Graduated from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the Technical University of Heavy Industry in Miskolc in 1963. She got her second degree in welding engineering in 1967, her CSc in 1986 and her PhD in 1987. She was responsible for the development of welding technology, and for the application of the results into the production process at ABB Power Generation Ltd.
István Apáthy, Dr.
Graduated in 1969 from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at the BME. Earlier he was the Head of the Space Dosimetry Laboratory at KFKI AEKI, now he is a chief counsellor at MTA EK. He was one of the Hungary’s pioneers in developing and manufacturing on-board satellite electronic equipment. He was guest scientist at the Max-Planck-Institut für Aeronomie for 4 years. In 1996 he competed for and won a FEANI Euro-engineer degree. He was awarded the Nagy Ernő Medallion by the Hungarian Astronautical Society in 1982, the State Prize of Hungary in 1986, the Medal of the Federation of Technical and Scientific Societies, Hungary in 2003, the Medal of Bay Zoltan of the Minister of Informatics and Communication in 2005, the Fonó Albert Medallion of the Hungarian Astronautical Society, the Dénes Gábor Prize in 2008 and the Széchenyi Prize in 2015. He is a member of the Hungarian Scientific Space Council and also a member of the Presidium of the Hungarian Astronautical Society. He was elected a corresponding member of the International Academy of Astronautics in 2008.
Péter Arató, Dr.
Graduated in 1965 from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at the Technical University of Budapest. He earned his CSc in 1975, and his DSc in 1985, and he has been elected to Corresponding Member of the HAS in 2001. He is Full Professor and has been the Head of the Department of Control Engineering and Information Technology (1988-2007), and the Dean of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Informatics at BUTE (2001-2005). Since 2012 he is Professor Emeritus. He is a senior member of the Hungarian Section of IEEE. He is also a member of the IFAC Hungarian National Committee, the Scientific Society of Measurement Technology and Automation, the Computer and Automation Committee of the HAS. He has been the vice-chairman of the John Neumann Computer Society (2001-2005). He is Curator of the Foundation for the Development of Continuing Engineering Education. He received Csáki Frigyes Prize in 2002, Simonyi Károly-Prize in 2012, Hungarian Republic’s Order Middle Cross in 2012, Széchenyi-Prize in 2012. Since May 2007 he is Full Member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences.
Attila Aszódi, Dr.
Graduated in 1993 from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the Technical University of Budapest. He earned his PhD degree in 1997. He was awarded the “Promotio sub auspiciis praesidentis Rei Publicae” PhD promotion with honour of President of the Hungarian Republic in 1998. Since 1997 he has been working at the Institute of Nuclear Techniques of BME. From 1999 until 2012 he was the Head of the Training Reactor Laboratory, and from 2004 until 2014 the Director of the Institute. His main research fields are simulation of thermohydraulical and thermodynamical processes in main components of nuclear power plants, Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), investigation of the transmutation of high level radioactive wastes, safety analysis of nuclear reactors and new design nuclear power plants, development of simulation programs for education purposes, communication and public relationships in the nuclear energetics. He is author of more than 100 articles, reports, and conference papers. He lectures on thermal hydraulics of nuclear reactors and nuclear power plants, sustainable development, energetics, nuclear energetics and computer simulation. Since 2014 he is government commissioner for capacity maintenance of Paks nuclear power plan.

György Balázs L. , Prof.
Graduated in structural engineering in 1982 at the Faculty of Civil Engineering at the Budapest University of Technology. Received Dr. Univ. degree in 1988, CSc (PhD) degree in 1992, Dr. habil. degree in 1998. He worked one year after graduation as bridge designer then he was lecturer and senior lecturer at the Dept. of Reinforced Concrete Structures, Budapest University of Technology. Graduated in 1976 from the Faculty of Architecture at the BME as Msc of Arch. After 6 year of professional practice he continued his studies On a postgraduate level. (Masterschool of Architecture 1982-84) From 1976 to ’77 he was involved in the capacity as an architect-designer at the LAKÓTERV. Between 1985-86 he was invited lecturer at the Masterschool of Central Studios of Theatres in 1995 host speaker at the St.John’s University (New York) College Europe. Since 20 years he is taking part in the education of Arch. Ing. Studies in English. From 1995 he is the vice dean of the Faculty of Architecture, DLA habil since 1999, he is a full-time prof. at the BME, he is a freelance architect too on the field of idea design, interior design, complex architectural graphical and site design. He has several memberships, he was the president at the Chamber of Hungarian Architects, president at the World Federation of Hungarian Engineers and Architects. László Bánhidi, Dr.
Graduated in 1956 from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the Technical University of Budapest. He earned his PhD in 1965, his CSc in 1972 and his DSc in 1982. He was Head of the Department of Building Service Engineering I. at the TUB. From 1996 he is working in the TUB as a Professor Emeritus. He is a member of seven international and six Hungarian organizations. He is Vice President of the Hungarian Engineering Chamber. He received the Alpár, Macskássy and in 2001 the Széchenyi Prize.
Tamás Bánky, Dr.
Graduated in 1971 from the Faculty of Chemical Engineering of the Technical University of Budapest. He was guest scientist at the University of California, Berkeley in 1981. He earned his Dr. Techn in 1989. He is the Scientific Director of Plc for Quality Control and Innovation in Building. He serves as an elected General Secretary of the Scientific Society of Mechanical Engineering. He received the A. G. Pattantyús Award of SSME in 1998. He is member of executive and working bodies of several international scientific and standardisation organizations (ISO, CEN, CIB). In 1998 he was elected as a member by the board of CIB. Csilla Bányász, Dr.
Graduated in 1969 from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at the Technical University of Budapest. She earned her PhD at TUB in 1972 and her CSc at the HAS in 1976. She is a senior researcher at the Computer and Automation Research Institute of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. She is a senior member of IEEE and Secretary of the National Member Organization of IFAC.
Péter Baranyi, Dr.
He was born in Hungary in 1970. He received the M.Sc. degree in electrical engineering (1994), and in education of engineering sciences (1995), and the Ph.D. degree (1999) from BME. He received the D.Sc. degree from the Hungarain Academy of Sciences in 2006. The main topics of his research field is intelligent control and cognitive vision. He has held research positions at The Chinese University of Hong Kong (1996 and 1998), the CNRS LAAS Institute, Toulouse, France (1996), the University of New South Wales, Australia (1997), the Technical University of Duisburg, Germany (1997), Tokyo University, Japan (1999), the Gifu Research Institute, Japan (2000–2001), and the University of Hull, U.K. (2002-2003). He is currently the head of the Cognitive Vision Research Group of the Computer and Automation Research Institute of Hungarian Academy of Science, and associate professor (reader) at the Dept. Telecommunication and Media Informatics of the BME. His research is honored on international level by the following awards: Canadian /International Constituency Group Young Intvestigator Award (2006) by Sigma Xi the Scientific Research Society, International Dennis Gábor Award (2000),STA Award (2000) by the Japan Science and Technology Corporation (JST), and SAMSUNG Young Scientist (1st prize) (2003). His research activity was also recognised in Hungary: János Kemény Prize (2005), Outstanding Young Technological Innovator of the Year 2002, II. Prize, Dénes Huszty Memorial Award, (2002), György Békésy and Zoltán Magyary postdoctoral scholarship (2003,2001), Youth Prize of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (2000). Zoltán Baranyi, Dr.
Graduated in 1973 from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the Technical University of Budapest. Later he earned a second degree as a welding engineer, and in 1981 he obtained his PhD. He works in the industry. He is the technical director of the Babcock Inducoop Ltd., and he is responsible for the technical preparation of the establishment of chemical and power stations, and their supervision abroad. He is a member of the Scientific Society of Mechanical Engineers. He is supplementary member of the Control Committee of HAE.
Tamás Bárány, Dr.
Graduated in 2001 from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the BME. He earned his PhD degree in 2004. From 2004 he was working at the Department of Polymer Engineering of BME as lecturer, assistant professor and associate professor. Since 2010 he has been the deputy head of Department of Polymer Engineering. His main research field is all-polymer composite materials, elastomers, testing and characterization of polymers and polymer composites. He is a member and secretary of the Scientific Committee of Fiber- and Composite Technology of the HAS, furthermore he is a member of the International Society of Plastic Engineers and the European Society of Composite Materials. He is a member of the editorial board of Express Polymer Letters and Periodica Polytechnica: Mechanical Engineering. He received the Hungarian Eötvös Scholarship in 2005 and HAS Bolyai János Research Scholarship for 2005-2008 and 2009-2012. He got Junior Prima Prize in 2007. András Bárczay, Dr.

He earned a second-degree of economist at the Marx Károly University of Economic Sciences, Budapest in 1976. His phD. in 1977. Started to work as a designer engineer (1973). 1976-1979 working in the field of industrial marketing and other economical research in a research institute. 1979 started to work in State Insurance Company in the industrial insurances. 1982 appointed as leader of industrial insurance department. 1983 appointed as director. 1986 after the devision of the State Insurance Co. joining to Hungária Biztosító directing the property and liability insurance territory. 1990 Hungária Biztosító is transferred to a share holding company having Allianz AG., München as the share holder. János Barsai, Dr.
Graduated in 1951 from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at the Technical University of Budapest as M.Sc.El.Eng., and from the University of Economy of Budapest as B.Sc.Econ. After his graduation he worked for Röntgen Rt. (formely Ungarische Siemens-Reiniger Werke) manufacturing medical equipment, mainly X-Ray equipment. Later the factory was named Medicor X-Ray Co. He became the head of the development department. He had several innovations patented in Hungary, in the USA. and in Canada. He was the director of the Medicor office and the technical staff in Cairo, in Toronto and Medicor USA in Columbus (Ohio, USA). He has several publications in Hungarian and International professional periodicals. He has been a member of the International Electrotechnical Commission Technical Committee 62 since 1969 and he is the honorary chairman of the Hungarian National Committee of IEC TC 62 and CENELEC TC 62. He is a member of the National Society of Professional Engineers (USA,NSPE.), of the Florida Engineering Society (P.E.), of the Canadian Medical and Biological Engineering Society, of the Hungarian Electrotechnical Association, of the Scientific Society for Measurement, Automation and Informatics (Budapest).He is a Life Senior Member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (USA). István Bársony, Dr.
Graduated in Electrical Engineering from the Technical University of Ilmenau, Germany in 1971. He holds a CSc. from the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (1978), a PhD from the Technical University of Budapest (1996) and a DSc. from the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (2001). During his professional career he was working on research assignments in Hungary mainly in silicon technology, in Japan (1983-86) on imaging application of the Static Induction Transistor, in the Netherlands (1988-1993) at the MESA Research Institute of the University of Twente on Rapid Thermal Multi-Processing. Since 1993 he has been with the Research Institute for Technical Physics and Materials Science of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, MFA Budapest. From 2004 he is the director of MFA. He has led several international projects a/o on solar cell and microsystems research. He holds 18 patents, published over 160 scientific papers. He is a professor of nanotechnology at the faculty of Technical Informatics of the University of Veszprém, and private professor at the Budapest University of Technology and Economics, and Corresponding Member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences.
Zoltán Bedő, Dr.
Graduated as agricultural engineer. He is the General Director of the Centre for Agricultural Research MTA. His research covered wheat breeding including investigations into the adaptability and quality of cereals. His research team was one of the first to make use of biotechnological techniques (doubled haploid breeding, molecular mapping of QTLs, marker-assisted selection) directly in cereal breeding in order to increase genetic variability and develop new, economically valuable cereal varieties. He has won the Hungarian Academy of Sciences Award, the Jedlik Ányos Inventors’ Award, Knight’s Cross of the Hungarian Republic, Justus Liebig Prize, Hamburg, Germany, and the Dénes Gabor Prize. He is a member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, he was the president of the EUCARPIA, European Association of Plant Breeding Research between 2008 and 2012. He is a co-breeder of 76 registered cereal varieties, and has written with his colleagues a total of 359 publications.
András Békés, Dr.
Graduated in 1972 from the Faculty of Chemical Engineering at the TUB. He received his second degree in environmental engineering in 1978 at TUB. He earned his DSc in 1983. He spent six years in the Hungarian Labour Protection Research Institute. He has been with the Hungarian Labour Inspectorate since 1986. He was Deputy Director General from 1990 and he has been Director General of the Inspectorate since 1995. He has taken part in national and international standardization, and he is one of the authors of the Hungarian Labour Protection Code of 1993. He is Vice-President of the International Association of Labour Protection. He has about 40 publications including keynote presentations at a number of international conferences. Since 1988 he has also worked with the International Labour Organization as an expert and consultant. He is a member of the International Society for Philosophical Inquiry and a member of Mensa, the international society of highly intelligent people (Chairman in Hungary, 1994-1995 and 2004-).
Ferenc Békés, Dr.
Graduated in 1972 from the Faculty of Chemical Engineering of the TUB. He earned his second degree as a teacher in 1972, Doctor Tech. in 1976, PhD in 1981, and DSc in 1990. He is an associate professor at the Department of Biochemistry and Food Technology at the TUB. Since 1987 he joined to CSIRO working as a principal research scientist, subprogram leader at the Division of Plant Industry, Grain Quality Research Laboratory. He is a member of AACC, RACI, HSAFI and founding member of the executive committee of the Australian-Hungarian Professional Society.
Pál Bencze, Dr.
Graduated in 1953 from the Technical University Faculty in Sopron. He earned his CS in 1966, his Dr. Techn. in 1967 and his DSc cin 1984. He was the Head of the Department of Aeronomy at the GGRI and at the same time he was Head of the Department of Geosciences at the UWH located in the GGRI, as the titular professor of the Eötvös Loránd University Budapest. He is the of the National Committee of URSI, honorary member of the Assocition of Hungarian Geophysicists and the Hungarian Astronautical Society. He has won the the Award of the Federation of Societies of Technical and Natural Science and the Bay Zoltán Award. He also received the Albert Fonó, the János Renner, László Egyed and the Eötvös Loránd Memorial Medals, as well as the Decoration “Pro Universitate Soproniensi”.
Miklós Bendzsel, Dr.
Graduated in 1976 from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the Budapest University of Technology. He earned his second degree as an economist in 1983 and his doctoral thesis in 1984 at the Budapest University of Economics. Between 1976 and 1980 he was research engineer in the Technological Institute for Machine Industry. He has more than 30 years of experience in intellectual property protection; executive vice-president (1993-1997) of the Hungarian Patent Office. Since 1997 he is president of the Hungarian Intellectual Property Office (formerly Hungarian Patent Office). President of the Hungarian Design Council set up in 2002. He is currently the chairman of the Hague Union Assembly of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). He has been representative of the Hungarian Republic in the Administrative Council of the European Patent Organisation (observer 1997 – 2003, member since 2003). Since December 2010 he is deputy chairman of the Administrative Council of the European Patent Organisation. Since 2012 he is member of the European Design Leadership Board. Member of the Hungarian Academy of Engineering since 1999, vice-president since 2011. He occupies positions in several public administration and governmental bodies and social organisations. Regular guest lecturer in Hungarian technical and economic higher education. He is co-author, editor or consultant editor of nine manuals and university textbooks. Author of around 120 studies and publications. Zoltán Benyó, Dr.
Zoltán Benyó received the M.Sc. degree in electrical engineering from the Technical University of Budapest, Budapest, Hungary in 1961. He received the Ph.D. and the D.Sc. degree from the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, Budapest, in 1975 and 1993, respectively. He has been teaching at the university since 1961. In 1994, he became a full-time Professor with the Department of Control Engineering and Information Technology. His research and education areas are process control theory, especially the modelling and identification of physiological systems. He has published about 450 papers and authored or co-authored some 15 textbooks. His scientific research activity has been rewarded with several national and international awards. He was awarded with the Dániel Fehér Medal in 2004.
István Berta, Dr.
Graduated in 1972 from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at the TUB. He earned his Dr. Univ. in 1977, CSc in 1988, PhD in 1994, and Dr. Habil. in 1995, his DSc in 1997 and Széchenyi Scholarship for Professors in 1998. He was the Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Informatics of TUB from 1989 to 1993. He was the Head of the Department of High Voltage Engineering and Equipment of TUB between 1993-2002. His field of activities include: high voltage engineering, insulating materials, industrial electrostatics in teaching; electrostatic hazards, electrostatic precipitation, painting, power coating, lightning and over voltage protection, and EMC/ESD/EMP in research. He is Secretary of EFCE Stat. El. in Process Industries, Fellow of IEE, Chartered Engineer, Honorary Officer of IEE Budapest CD, UNIDO expert; member of the Hungarian national UNIDO Committee, Scientific Consultant of SHOCK Ltd, member of the Electrostatic Society of America, Institute of Electrostatics Japan, International Fellow and Member of the Board of directors of ISESP, member of IEEE Environment Health and Safety Committee, member of CIGRE and several national and international scientific societies. He is the author of 7 books, 68 publications, 105 papers, 11 patents and 9 national and international standards and more then 100 technical reports. He got the Gábor Dénes Prize in 2002.
Péter Biacs A. , Dr.
Graduated (MSc) in 1963 from the Faculty of Chemical Engineering of the Technical University of Budapest (BME). He earned his Dr. Tech. in 1971, his CSc. in 1975 and his DSc in 1985. He was the Director of the Central Research Institute for the Food Industry (1982-2000). He served as an elected president during 1990-1994 and 2000-2008 in the Hungarian Scientific Society of the Food Industries (MÉTE) and as president of the International Union of Food Science and Technology (IUFoST) for the term 1995-1999. He was the vice President of FTSS (1994-1999). He received the Award for Environment of the Ministry of Environment in 1995 and the Award “Pro Alimentis Hungariae” of the Ministry of Agriculture in 2008. Between 2002 and 2004 he was Deputy State Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture responsible for food safety and consumer affairs, between 2004 and 2006 the general director of the Hungarian Food Safety Office (MÉBiH). Now he is emeritus professor of Biotechnology at the Budapest Corvinus University (BCE).

László Péter Bíró, Dr.
Graduated in 1974 from the Babes-Bolyai University, Kolozsvár (Cluj), Romania; diploma in Solid State Physics, PhD in Physical Engineering from the Technical University of Budapest in 1997. He earned his DSc in 2005, and was elected as Corresponding Member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (HAS) in 2013. Since 2008 he is Honorary Professor of the University of Szeged. He is the founding head of the Nanostructures Department (1998) in the HAS Research Centre for Natural Sciences, Institute of Technical Physics and Materials Science. He has been regularly a visiting scientist in the Fraunhofer Institut für Integrierte Schaltungen, Erlangen, Germany, and later on in the Physics Department of the University of Namur, Namur, Belgium (totaling to 4.5 years). He was the member of Engineering and Natural Sciences College of the Hungarian Scientific Research Fund (2010 -2012), he is the member of the Executive Committee of the European Materials Research Society (E-MRS). Eszter Bognár, Dr.
She finished her undergraduate studies at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Budapest University of Technology and Economics (BME) in 2005 and in 2007 she received a degree also from BME in Biomedical Engineering. In 2010 she received a degree in Economical Engineering from Corvinus University of Budapest (BCE). The very same year she received her PhD from BME in Mechanical Engineering. Her research theme was the passive and active coatings and coating technologies of coronary stents. She currently is a full-time assistant professor at the BME in the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Department of Material Science and Engineering. In 2008 she was awarded the Deák Ferenc scholarship. In this year she took part in the “58th Meeting of Nobel Laureates”. Throughout her studies she won three best poster prizes. In 2010 she received the Student Research Work Medal (BME). In 2011 she was granted the Bolyai János Research Scholarship. In 2012 she received the Pro Progressio Foundation Teacher Scholarship.
József Bokor, Dr.
Graduated in 1972 from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at TUB. He earned his PhD at TUB in 1977, his CSc at the HAS in 1984 and his DSc in 1990. He is full professor, and Head of the Department of Automation, Transportation Faculty TUB and Research Director of the Computer and Automation Institute, HAS. He is a member of the Hungarian National Committee of IFAC and IEEE. He was elected as a Corresponding Member in 1998, and a Member of the HAS in 2002.
Lajos Borbás, Dr.
Graduated in 1970 from the Faculty of Transport Engineering at BME. He earned his “doctor tech.” degree in 1985, and PhD degree in 2001. He worked for the Hungarian Airline for 3 years, until 1973, and from that time works for BME, since 1992 as a senior research fellow, professor associate from 2002. Head of the Cooperation research Centre for Biomechanics (BME) since 2007. His main research field is experimental stress and strain analysis, especially photoelastic coating technique, reinforced plastic materials, and biomechanics. He is member of several national and international scientific societies; and editorial boards of scientific journals. He serves as an organizing committee member of the Danubia-Adria Symposium (an international cooperation in the field of experimental mechanics, established in 1984), he is the Secretary General of the Scientific Society of Mechanical Engineers (GTE) since 2006. Member of a committee of HAS. Owner of the A. G. Pattantyús Award (in 2002), and the international Award of Leonardo da Vinci. He is member of the Nominating Committee of HAE.
István Bukovics, Dr.
After graduating from Donát Bánki Machine Industry Technical School, Budapest and earning his qualification of safety technology and fire engineer in Moscow, he has been employed int he field of industrial safety, fire protection, civil protection and disaster management. He was retired in position of fire-fighter major general, following that, he is civil servant. He defended his candidate’s thesis of technical sciences in 1984 and the habilitated doctoral degree in military technical sciences in 2004. At the moment, he is a consultant adviser for the National Directorate General for Disaster Management. He deals with safety strategic planning, scientific and education research and organization, quality management, safety innovation improvement in the field of fire protection, civil protection and disaster management. In addition to his professional job he has been continuously educated and done scientific research. He is member of numerous scientific organizations, “Preparation for the Climate Change” Sub-committee at the Environmental Science Committee of Hungarian Academy of Sciences and Hungarian Law Enforcement Science Company should be highlighted. He is author of more than 30 books and lecture notes and 80 scientific publications.
Tibor Czigány, Dr.
Graduated in 1988 from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the Technical University of Budapest (BME). He earned his doctor univ. degree in 1994, PhD degree in 1997, Dr. habil in 2002 and DSc in 2005. From 1988 to 2001 he was working at the Institute of Machine Design of BME as assistant, first assistant and associate professor. From 1995 to 1996 guest researcher at University of Kaiserslautern, Institute for Composite Materials. Since 2001 he has been the head of Department of Polymer Engineering at Budapest University of Technology and Economics. From 2012 he is the dean of Faculty of Mechanical Engineering. His main research field is polymer composite materials and technologies, material testing, acoustic emission, failure analysis. He is a president of the Committee of Fiber- and Composite Technology, and member of the Council of Doctors of Hungarian Academy of Sciences, furthermore he is a member of the International Society of Plastic Engineers. He is the president of the Hungarian Association of Manufacturers of Reinforced Plastic Materials. He received the Bolyai Scholarship in 1998, Széchenyi Professor Scholarship in 2000, Széchenyi István Scholarship in 2004 and Öveges József Scholarsip in 2006. Imre Czinege, Dr.
Graduated in 1966 from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Miskolc. He earned his “doctor univ.” degree in 1972, PhD degree in 1979, Dr. habil in 1996. From 1966 to 2002 he was teaching at Bánki Donát Polytechnis as assistant, associate professor and full professor. From 2002 he joined to the Széchenyi István University in Győr as full professor and he was the rector of the institute between 2002 and 2005. Since 2006 he has been the President of the Regional University Science Centre for Vehicle Industry. His main research fields are engineering materials and technologies, material testing, computer simulation of manufacturing processes. Gábor Czitán, Dr.
Graduated in 1973 from the Bánki Donát College of Engineering in Budapest. He earned his Welding Engineer degree in ZIS/ Halle in 1975, his European Welding Engineer degree in 1994, and his technical Dr. degree in welding technology in 1995. He is a graduate lobbyist from the University of Economics. After graduation he was involved in applying new welding- and heat-setting technologies as a welding engineer in Germany, Russia und Hungary. He has been working for die TÜV Rheinland Group since 1989. He became member of the Board of Directors in 2006. Currently he is operating as an International Senior Advisor. He is a founding member of the Hungarian Society for Quality, the Hungarian Association of Welding Technology and the Associations of Quality Advisers. He is Honorary Professor at the Óbuda University, Budapest; Associate Professor at the college in Nyíregyháza and the Chairman of the Economic Council of the Óbuda University. Ernő Czoboly, Dr.
Graduated in 1951 from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the Technical University of Budapest. He earned his CSc in 1968, his DSc in 1992. He worked at the TUB as an ass. Professor from 1951 till 1961, and as a research fellow from 1961 till 1989. His field of activity is material sciences, fracture mechanics and fatigue. He is an adviser in the Atomic Energy Research Institute of the HAS, and Secretary General of the Hungarian-Korean Technical Co-operation Center Foundation. He received the Prize of the President of HAS in 1965, first degree of the award for technical papers in 1972 from SSME, a medal for the honour of A.G.Pattantyús in 1985 and a medal for the honour of L. Gillemot in 1989. He was Secretary of the National Committee of ICF from 1968 till 1999, acted as Chairman of the National Committee of ESIS from 1980 to 1994, was Chairman of the Section for Material Testing of SSME from 1985 to 1994 and co-chairman of SSME from 1990 to 1993. He received the title of University Professor from the University of Miskolc in 1993.
Tibor Czvikovszky, Dr.
Graduated in 1960 at the Chemical Engineering Faculty of the TUB. In 1960 he joined to the Plastics Research Institute of Hungary. His “Technical Doctor” thesis on polymer technologies has been made in 1966 at the TUB. His CSc work was defended in 1971. In 1971 he became a technical expert of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). Between 1974 and 1989 at the Plastics Research Institute, Hungary, he was directing a research department, working on macromolecular chemistry and technology, achieving more than 40 industrial patents applied in several countries. He received the degree “Doctor of Chemical Sci.” in 1988. In 1989 he joined to the Atomic Energy of Canada, Ltd., Whiteshell Laboratories. Since 1992 he is a professor of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the TUB, up to 2001 as a Head of Polymer Engineering Dept. He has written more than 120 publications, several book chapters, two university textbooks on polymer engineering. He has teaching experiences in North- and South America, China, S-Korea and Malaysia. He accomplished several UN missions as an expert of the IAEA and UNIDO. He speaks English, German, French, Spanish, and understands Italian and Russian. Prof. Czvikovszky is the President of the Fiber and Filament Technology Committee of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. Between 1999 and 2002 he was the president of the Hungarian Scholarship Board. For the years 1999-2002 he received Széchenyi Professorship.

Antal Csiszár, Dr.
Graduated in 1970 from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the BME. After he finished his studies, he worked for the Machinery Láng at the steam turbine section as a special designer. In 1974 he has moved to the Research Institute of Electroenergetics. He also worked at the Nuclear Power Plant and Thermotechnical Division at the Experimental Installations of Thermotechnical Department. During 1979-81 he obtained a degree at BME as an expert of environmental protection. He earned his DSc in 1986. In 1994 he competed for and won a FEANI Euroengineer degree. He is a member of the Scientific Society for Mechanical Engineering, and member of the Board of Energy and Chemical Machinery Production. He is the leader of the Nuclear Power Plant Machinery Workgroup. He is also a member of the Scientific Society for Energy, of the Hungarian Association of Environmental Protection and of the Environmental protection Section of the Engineering Chamber. In 1994 he has founded a small enterprise called KTT Bt. (today KTTK Kft.), and he is the managing director of this company. The company’s main profile is technical and economical consulting.
Gyula Csopaki, Dr.
In 1969 graduated from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at the Budapest University of Technology and Economics (BME). In 1986 earned his PhD in Computer Science. At present Scientific Associate at the Department of Telecommunications and Media Informatics. From 2001 till 2008 Director of International Affairs at BME. He is member of the Hungarian Academy of Engineering; Committee for Telecommunication Systems, Hungarian Academy of Sciences (MTA); and the Scientific Association for Infocommunications (HTE). He was member of the editorial board of the Journal of Wireless Personal Communication (Kluwer Academic Press, New Holland) for 6 years; the General Assembly of MTA for four years. Lívia Cvetityanin (Pintér), Dr.
Graduated from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at University of Novi Sad (Serbia) in 1975. She earned her MS degree in 1977 from Faculty of Natural Sciences at University of Belgrade (Serbia) and her PhD degree in 1983. She was elected to a corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences and Arts of Vojvodina in 2013, and to a member of the Serbian Academy of Engineers in 2014. Since 1975 she has been working at the Faculty of Technical Sciences at the University of Novi Sad, where she was elected to a Professor in Mechanism and Machine Theory in 1991 and after that to a Professor in Mechanics in 1995. In 1989, she spent a half a year at the Waseda University in Tokyo and at the MERL, Hitachi, in Tsuchiura (Japan). She was the Head of the Department of Mechanics and Machine Design, Vice-dean of the Faculty of Technical Sciences and the Head of the Department of Graphical Engineering and Design at the University of Novi Sad. She was the President of the Yugoslav Mechanics Society. Since 1975, she published more than 300 papers and 5 textbooks. Her books Dynamics of Machines with Variable Mass (Gordon and Breach Science Publishers, London, 1998) and Strongly Nonlinear Oscillators – Analytical Solutions, Series: Undergraduate Lecture Notes in Physics (Springer, 2014) are basic references in mechanical engineering, theory of machines and mechanisms, applied mathematics and mechanics. In 2006 she was awarded by the Reuter Thompson as the most cited scientist in Serbia. As the engineer with high qualification she was the Project Manager for three factories and few machines in cable industry.

László Dévényi, Dr.
Graduated in 1973 from the Faculty of Metallurgy at the UM. He earned his PhD in 1991 and the title Eur.Ing. in 1994. Since 1992 he is an Associate Professor. His main research field is failure analysis, optical and electron microscopy, life assessment of high temperature components. He was the Secretary of the Committee of Materials Science and Technology of the HAS; between 1999 and 2001 he was Chairman of ASM Hungary; member of the European Organization for Quality; the Hungarian Mining and Metallurgical Association and the Scientific Society of Mechanical Engineers; the Vice Chairman of Mechanical Engineer Committee and member of the Controll Committee at the Chamber of Hungarian Engineers. Sarolta Dibuz, Dr.
Sarolta Dibuz graduated in 1986 at Budapest University of Technology and Economics at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering. She got her PhD degree in 1994 from the same university. She is research director of Ericsson Hungary responsible for research cooperation with universities and manages a research lab in conformance and software testing. She is also responsible for all software test activities in Ericsson Hungary. Her unit supports Ericsson with automated test methods and environments world-wide. She was rewarded with the golden ring of the Hungarian Republic (Sub Auspiciis Rei Publicae) in 1992. Sándor Domanovszky, Dr.
Graduated in 1956 from the Faculty of Civil Engineering at the Technical University of Budapest (TUB). In 1964, he became a welding engineer at the Welding Institution of Halle (ZIS). In 1966, he earned his Masters degree in welding engineering at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at TUB, and his Ph.D. in 1985. In 1995 he awarded from the DVS-PersZert (Germany) the certificate of European Welding Engineer (EWE), in 2001 the diploma of International Welding Engineer (IWE). Since 1956, he has been working as a designer, workshop engineer, erection leader, technologist, chief engineer, and consulting engineer, between 1998-2004 he has been the Quality Assurance and Welding Manager of the Company Ganz-Mávag. Since 1960, he has been continuously the responsible welding coordinator (at the Ganz Steel Structure Company Ltd., previous Ganz-MÁVAG). In 2004 he retired. Since that time he is working as welding expert by the building of the new Danube bridge at Dunaújváros. Since 1990 he is the representative of the German Welding Institute SLV Munich for qualifying structural steelworks. Since 2004 he is the Hungarian epresentative of the world famous German Engineering Firm Leonhardt, Andrä und Partner. He is author over 140 scientific papers, co author 14 technical books. He has been awarded numerous prizes, including the Eötvös Loránd Prize (1994), the Prize of the Hungarian Academy of Engineering (1999, as the very first person of this prize), the Széchenyi Prize (2001), the Bánki Donát Prize (2002) and the Bridge Builder of the year 2004 Prize.
Ádám Döbröczöni, Dr.
Graduated in 1967 from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at Miskolc University of Heavy Industry. He earned his PhD in 1968, his Dr. Univ. In 1987 and his Dr. habil in 1996. Antal Döbrösy
Graduated in 1961 from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at TUB obtaining MSc in Power Engineering and earned his second degree as MBA in 1968. He started his industrial career at ERBE as technical assistant gaining broad theoretical and practical experience in Hungarian power generation industry where ERBE acted as EPC contractor for all major domestic power plants. As deputy plant manager he was responsible for Tisza II power plant project and later for nuclear power plant in Paks. As deputy general manager and later as general manager of ERBE he worked on World Bank projects in Hungary and took part in power plant rehabilitation projects. In 1993 he began to work at ABB Power Generation Kft as service director implementing the total power plant service concept to the local market. Opened branch offices at the Tisza and Dunamenti PPs and established business relations to Paks NPP and gained large volume orders for field service works leading to opportunities to increase the business volume. In 1995 he became the managing director of ABB Power generation Kft. and after the foundation of ABB ALSTOM POWER he was appointed the country manager in Hungary. He retired in 2002. He acts now as supervisory board member and supports the company as management consultant.
Ferenc Erdélyi, Dr.
Graduated in 1956 from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the Technical University of Heavy Industry in Miskolc. He earned a second degree in 1964 from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at the Technical University of Budapest. He earned his PhD and CSc in 1994. He is an associate Professor at the Institute of Information Sciences at the University of Miskolc. He is a member of the Manufacturing System Committee of the SSME, and a member of the Miskolc Chapter of the HAS.
Gyula Ernyei, Dr.
Graduated as interior designer from the Hungarian Academy of Craft and Design in 1965. He earned his MSc at the Technical University of Budapest in 1973 and his PhD in 1981. He worked at the Rubik Studio up to 1992. Now, he is full professor and director of the Institute of Humanities at the Hungarian University of Craft and Design. He wrote several books and numerous articles on the history and theory of design. He is member of the Hungarian Society of Artists and Designers, the Advisory Committee for the Hungarian Council of Industrial Design and Ergonomics, the Art Sub-Committee for the National Accreditation Committee. Ferenc Faigl, Dr.
Graduated in 1977 from the Faculty of Chemical Engineering at TUB. He earned his Dr. Techn. in 1981, his D.Sc. from HAS and Dr. Habil from TUB in 1996. From 1977 until 1996 he worked as research fellow of the Research Group for Organic Chemical Technology, HAS. In the same time lecturer of regular class courses at the Department of Organic Chemical Technology, TUB. He became Associate Professor of the Department of Organic Chemical Technology, TUB in 1996 and Full Professor at the same department since 1997. From 1990 to 1992 then in 1994 and in 1996 he was a gest senior researcher at the Universite de Lausanne. He is the Deputy Head of the Department of Organic Chemical Technology, TUB since 1996, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Chemical Engineering since 1999 and Head of the Research Group of HAS since 2003. He is the author and co-author of 70 papers book chapters and booklets and of approximately 100 lectures held on international and national conferences. He has 29 patented procedures, 12 of which have been utilized and/or sold in the industry. He has been member and/or co-ordinator of numerous international projects such as COST D2 from 1993 to 1997 and COST D24 since 2002, bilateral co-operatins between HAS and CNR Italy since 1995. György Farkas, Dr.

László Felföldi, Dr.
Graduated in 1946 from the Faculty of Civil Engineering at the TUB. He earned the title Tech. Doctor in 1963, his PhD in 1964 and his DSc in 1978. He was Full Professor at the TUB between 1975-1995. He was a member of the Committee on Education and Training of the World Federation of Engineering Organizations between 1979-1995, and is member of the International Packaging Organisation from 1985. He was editor-in-chief of the logistic review “a+cs” Anyagmozgatás-Csomagolás (Material Handling & Packaging) between 1964-2003 and was in the same position of the weekly Magyar Közlekedés (Hungarian Transport) in 1993-1994 and of the magazine for packaging and logistics “Pack+Log” in 2004. He received the Golden Medal of the Hungarian Republic in 1947, the A.G. Pattantyús Prize in 1982, the Prize of the FTSS in 1987, and the Memorial Medal of the TUB in 1992. Csaba Ferencz, Dr.
Graduated in 1964 from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at the BME. He graduated as Doctor of the University Honoured by Golden Ring in 1968. He won his Academic Doctor of Technical Sciences degree at the HAS in 1981. Since 1991 he has been a titular professor at the BME. In 1995 he was invited to be an active member of the New York Academy of Sciences, and he won the Doctor Habil degree of the BME. In 1964-68 he was assistant lecturer of the BME, in 1968-82 he was group leader, and later a department leader of the Government Committee for Space Research of Hungary, which later changed into the Intercosmos Council. Since 1982 he leads the Space Research Group operating at the ELTE as scientific advisor of the HAS and from 2002 as scientific advisor of the ELTE. He is a member of certain workgroups of COSPAR and URSI, of the Hungarian Space Research Committee and the Space Research Scientific Committee of HSST and HAsS to 2012, form 2012 he is the chairman of the Hungarian Space Research Committee. József Finta

István Fodor
Graduated in 1968 from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at the TUB, gaining MSc degree. He started his career as a designer of wireless systems, participated in building up of the microwave backbone and elaborated a dimensioning system for the first radio telephone network in Hungary. In 1975 he designed the telecommunications network of South Yemen. Between 1976-1986 he was responsible for the main contracting activities of telecommunications exports. Between 1986-1990 he led several projects for the Kuwait Ministry of Telecommunications in Kuwait. In late 1990 he was assigned to establish Ericsson’s Hungarian subsidiary of which he is the president from the very beginning up to present. The company has become the largest telecom manufacturer and the biggest telecom supplier in the Hungarian market. Inside the company, Ericsson’s Central European Competence Centre and research Development center are very active and famous worldwide of their outstanding results. This unit deals with the most sophisticated telecommunication technology of the world in a wide range co-operation with the Hungarian universities and has achieved considerable recognition in the international research and development activity. He is Member of the Scientific Advisory Board for the Government, Vice- Chairman of Scientific Association for Infocommunications, Member of the Presidential Consultative Board of the Communications Authority Hungary, Steering Committee Member of the Technological Foresight program, Founding Board member of the “Hungarian Round Table”, member of the Inventors’ Council – governmental advisory board, Vice President of the Swedish Chamber of Commerce in Hungary. He was honored by Gábor Dénes Award in 1996, Manager of the Year Award in 1998, Széchenyi Award in 1999.
Elemér Fogassy, Dr.
Graduated in 1957 from the TUB as a Chemical Engineer. He earned his Dr.Techn. in 1965, his PhD. in 1974 and his DSc in 1986. He was working for the Chinoin Pharmaceutical Works from 1957 to 1959, then for the EGYS-Pharmaceutical Works from 1959 to 1964. He has been working at the Department of Organic Chemical Technology of the TUB since 1964, and he was appointed to be the Head of the Department in 1991-99. He has more than 90 patented procedures, 17 of which has been utilized in the industry. He is the author or co-author of approximately 100 papers, which have appeared in international journals, and of 170 lectures held on international and national conferences. He was the Secretary of the Educational Committee of the Hungarian Chemical Society, and in 1989 he has been elected member of its presidency. He is the recipient of three prizes awarded for excellence in teaching in 1982, 1987 and 1991. He got the Dénes Gábor Prize in 2000.

Ferenc Friedler, Prof.
Professor Ferenc Friedler (born in 1953) is the Dean of Faculty of Information Technology, the Head of Department of Computing Science, and Chair of Information Technology PhD program at University of Pannonia, Veszprem, Hungary. He graduated in University of Szeged in mathematics in 1977. He received CSc degree in 1990 and DSc degree in 1995 in chemical engineering. His research interests include process systems engineering and operations research. He is one of the founders of the P-graph framework for process network synthesis and the S-graph framework for optimal scheduling. He has published more than one hundred papers in international journals and book chapters; he also presented his work in international conferences on the five continents. Dr. Friedler spent one year in 1990 at Kansas State University for his research that has been resulted in a productive continuous ongoing U.S. – Hungarian collaboration. He was a visiting professor at the EPFL (Ecole Politechnique Federale de Lausanne), Lausanne, Switzerland in 2005; currently, he has a visiting professor title at University of Surrey, Surrey, United Kingdom. He has been invited to present his work at prominent universities and research institutes in the U. S., Europe, and Asia. He has been the supervisor of major national and international research and R&D projects, the chair and co-chair of several international scientific conferences and honored with the Knight’s Cross Order of Merit of the Republic of Hungary (home-page:www.dcs.vein.hu/friedler).
János Gadó, Dr.
Graduated in 1969 as a physicist at the Loránd Eötvös University in Budapest. He earned his CSc in 1980, and DSc in 1999. He worked for many years as a reactor physicist in the KFKI Atomic Energy Research Institute. He was responsible for reactor physics computational modelling of nuclear reactors. This work included code validation with respect to the measurements at the ZR-6 critical facility, subcriticality calculations of the Paks NPP spent fuel storage facility and also in the safety analysis of the Budapest Research Reactor. In 1991-94 he was project manager of the AGNES project which was initiated by the Hungarian Atomic Energy Commission for the safety reassessment of the Paks NPP. He has been project manager of various projects related to the safety of Paks NPP. He received “Magyar Köztársasági Érdemrend Tisztikereszt” in 2005.
Zsolt Gáspár, Dr.
Graduated in 1967 from the Faculty of Civil Engineering at the BME. He obtained a second degree as a mathematician from the Faculty of Sciences at the Eötvös Loránd University in 1970. He earned his CSc in 1977 and his DSc in 1985 at the HAS. He is Professor Emeritus and was a Full Professor (1991-2013), Head of the Department of Civil Engineering Mechanics at the BME (1993-1996, 2004-2009). He was president of the Committee for Theoretical and Applied Mechanics of the HAS (1997-2002). He is a member of the editorial board of “Journal of Computational and Applied Mechanics” and editor in chief of “Építés – Építészettudomány”. He was Head of the Research Group for Computational Structural Mechanics, HAS (1996-2006). He became a corresponding member of the HAS in 1993, and member of the HAS in 1998, foreign member of The Royal Society of Arts and Sciences in Göteborg in 2006. He received the Széchenyi Professor’ Scholarship in 1998. He got Szentgyörgyi Albert Prize in 2000, Széchenyi Prize in 2002, and József Nádor Medallion in 2014.
József Gáti, Dr.
He graduated as a Mechanical Engineer at Technical University of Miskolc in 1980. He received his Dr. Techn. Degree in 1987 in the field of welding sciences, and his European and International Welding Engineer degree in 2000. From 1975 to 2000 he was working for Bánki Donát Technical College as Associate Professor and as Secretary General from1987. After 2000 he filled in Associate Professor, Secretary General and Head of Rector Office positions at Budapest Tech. From 2010 to 2015 he filled in the Chancellor and Vice Rector positions at Óbuda University. Currently he is working for Óbuda University as Director-General for Institutional Development and Head of Quality Management. He is a member of the Hungarian National Delegation at International Institute of Welding and Hungarian Member of the European Committee for Standardization. Member of the Welding Subcommittee on Materials Science and Technology of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences and President of the Hungarian Welding Association. He fills in Organizing Committee Chair, Member of Steering and Program Committee function at several IEEE conferences. He received the Bánki Donát Award in 2003, the Zorkóczy Béla Award in 2004 and Pattantyús-Ábrahám Géza Award in 2008. Dr. Gáti has been awarded a Knight’s Cross of the Order of Merit by the Republic of Hungary in 2007, Doctor Honoris Causa Degree at Technical University of Kosice (2010) and Honorary Professor title at University of Applied Sciences Wildau (2012). He published 158 papers, 15 technical books and a patent in the field of welding and higher education.
László Gelencsér, Dr.
Graduated in 1968 from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the UM. He earned his second degree in 1973 as a specialized engineer for welding at the TUB and his third one in 1989 as an economics engineer for the chemical industry. He earned his PhD in 1978. He is adviser of the Hungarian Oil and Gas Company Ltd. He won the Award of the President of the Metallurgical Society. He has got the Golden Rank of the Award for Hungarian Oil Industry. He is member of the Nominating Committee of the HAE.
György Gémes András , Dr.
Graduated from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the Budapest Technical University (BME) in 1997. He earned his second diploma as an engineer specializing in reactor technology in 2003 from the Faculty of Natural Sciences at BME. He earned his Ph.D. (Materials and Solid State Physics) in 2010 at Eötvös Loránd University. Between 1997- 2009, he worked for SIEMENS Erőműtechnika Ltd. He was Head of the Laboratory from 2001. Between 2009-2014, he has been Director of the Material Testing and Condition Control Laboratory of AIB-VINCOTTE Hungary Ltd. Starting 2014, he has been Head of the Material Testing and Condition Control Laboratory of TÜV Rheinland InterCert Ltd. His main professional activities cover destructive and non-destructive material testing, condition monitoring of conventional power plants and lifetime estimation of reactor vessels of nuclear power plants. He has qualified as Eur. Ing. of FEANI in 2001. He has been a member of HAE since 2005.Between 2005-2008, his served as a member of the reactor experts panel, and participated in creating the technical foundations for the lifetime extension program of the Paks Nuclear Power Plant. Since 2011, he has also been serving as a member of the Public Body of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, Section of Engineering Sciences.
Zoltán Gereben, Dr.
Graduated in Physics with Mathematics and qualified as an Engineer of Architecture at the TUB. His areas of interest included at the beginning of his career the spreading of microwaves and the associated technologies of measurement. Later he moved to building physics and to the assessment of the quality of construction products and components. From 1978 to 1980 he was engaged as an expert on an Algerian UNIDO-project. From 1986 he was senior researcher and later Head of the Division of Building Structures at the Institute for Quality Control in Building. In 1992 he took the lead of ÉMI, where he became General Director. From 1992 to 1998 he has been for two periods the member of the Board of CIB. He was member of the Board of the UEAtc, of the WFTAO and of the ENBRI. He was supplementary member of the Disciplinary and Ethic Committee of the HAE. In 2003 he has been decorated with the Golden Cross of Distinction of the Hungarian Republic. He retired in 2003.

Ferenc Gillemot, Dr.
Graduated in 1962 from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the TUB. He earned his second degree as a qualified welding engineer in 1965 and his CSc in 1981. He is Head of the Radiation Embrittlement and Ageing of PWR-s Research at the Central Institute for Physics. He is also the Hungarian Delegate in the Life Time Management of Nuclear Power Plants Working Group of the International Atomic Agency. He is a member of the editorial board of the international journal “Theoretical and Applied Fracture Mechanics”. He is supplementary member of the Disciplinary and Ethic Committee of HAE.
Géza Gremsperger, Dr.
Graduated in 1964 from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the Technical University of Heavy Industry in Miskolc. He earned his second degree in welding engineering in 1970, his CSc in 1979 and his PhD in 1992. He has diploma for EUR. ING, EWE/IWE moreover several kinds of certificates from E.O. Paton Welding Institut Kiev/Ukraine, Welding Institute in Halle/Germany, quality studies at EU. Commission – GD.Industry /Bruxelles/Belgium). He started to work at a shipyard and later managing director of it (1964-1991), in period 1991 – 1995 the Quality and Welding Manager of the Ganz-Hunslet Corp. in Budapest (railway stock production) and from 1995 till end of 2001 was the Head of Department of the Hungarian Standards Institution for Quality Management System Certification and lead auditor for ISO 9001 and for EN 729 moreover welding environment according to the European Welding Federation (EWF) – Hungarian Association of Welding and Material Testing (HAWMT) regulations and lecturer for EWF environmental auditor training course, he is member at HAWMT of governing council for health and safety certification. From January 2002 accredited professor for welding technology and fabrication of welded structures, health and safety in welding and quality management at COLLEGE of DUNAÚJVÁROS moreover lecturer for these subjects at Budapest Technical and Economical University (BME) and at Miskolc University (ME) moreover for IIW International Welding Engineering courses. He is member of Doctor’s (PhD) School named to ISTVÁN SÁLYI at MISKOLC UNIVERSITY / Mechanical Faculty as professor for the subjects mentioned above. He is vice-president of the Scientific Society of Mechanical Engineering (SSME), and member in the public body of HAS and past president of Welding Subcommittee Committee of Material Science and Technology of HAS and the Hungarian delegate for the IIW-Commission VIII. He is (co- and/or) author over 130 different publications inter alias 17 books (chapters and proceedings as well) and co-inventor for two welding related patents. His research covers: welding technology, production of welded structures, welding and corrosion, welding quality and welding quality management, health and safety in welding, etc. He received award for high quality work in 1985 and another for innovation in 1986 from the HSCF (Hungarian Ship and Crane factory) and in 1987 he was awarded for taking care of young people in the shipyard, in 1992 award for technical paper of the year, in 1998 award of Miskolc University of Mechanical Faculty and last one is the honor award of Scientific Society of Mechanical Engineering (SSME) in 2002.
Gyula Greschik, Dr.
Received a Diploma in Engineering, with a major in Geotechnics, Foundation and Tunnelling in 1959 at TUB, the degrees Dr.Techn. and Candidate of Tech.Sc. in 1979 (TUB and HAS), and a Diploma in Intellectual Property Law in 1985 (ELU School of Law). He has 35 years of experience in design, construction and management of a wide variety of projects, mainly in Tunnelling, Foundation Engineering, Geotechnics and Engineering Geology in Hungary, Austria, China, Turkey and in the USA. He was Professor of the Budapest Technical University, Department for Engineering Geology, Visiting Professor of Tunnelling at the Middle East Technical University in Ankara, President of the Hungarian National Committee of the International Tunnelling Association and of the International Society on Soil Mechanics and Foundation Engineering, and Secretary of the Hungarian National Committee of International Society on Rock Mechanics. He was a member of the Advisory Board of the international journal “Rock Mechanics, Rock Engineering”. He is Professor of the Debrecen University and Managing Director of GRG Consulting Engineering Ltd., and the author of 13 patents.

Graduated in 1964 from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at the Technical University of Budapest. He was Deputy Director General of Transelektro Trade Co. Ltd. and Chairman of the Board of Hungarian Power Companies Ltd. He is author of several college textbooks. He is a member of the Hungarian National Committee of the International Conference on Large High Voltage Electric Systems, and the World Energy Council. Now he is Deputy State Secretary responsible for energy affairs industry at the Ministry of Economy and Transport.
Miklós Havass
Graduated at the University of Szeged, where he received an MSc degree in Mathematics. At the beginning he worked at a state computing center. In 1973 he joined Számalk-Computer Applications and Service Company, Budapest, as a research fellow. At present he is the Past- President and Partner of Számalk. Formerly, as a deputy general manager, he was responsible for research, development and education within the company. He is the member of the National Council for Communications and Informatics, and the Board for Reasearch and Technological Innovation. He is the President of the HUNGIS Hungarian GIS Association, Honorary President of the John Neumann Computer Society and of the Hungarian Association for Geo-Information. He is a member of the Hungarian Mathematical Society; and the IEEE. He is author of more than 150 scientific articles and books.
József Hegyháti, Dr.
Graduated in 1968 from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the TUB. He earned his Doctorate in 1980, his PhD in 1988 at the TU Dresden. Since 1968 he was a lecturer, and presently he is assistant professor of the TUB. During the period 1993-1998 he was Deputy Secretary of State in the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism, responsible for industry, energy and technology policy. From 1999 he was Deputy General Manager for Strategy and Investment of Ganz Gépgyár Holding Rt. Since 2003 he is Managing Director of Public Agency for Radioactive Waste Management. Since 1985 he is chairman of the Athletic and Football Club of the TUB. Since 1997 he is chairman of the he Board of Trustees of the Foundation for Up-to- date Training of Engineers. From 1999 until 2002 he was member of the Executive Board of the Hungarian National Committee of the International Chamber of Commerce. During the period of 2000-2003 he was elected president of the National Association of Hungarian Engineering Industries (MAGOSZ) and presently he is member of the Board.

József Imre, Dr.
Graduated in 1970 from the Faculty of Metallurgy at the Technical University for Heavy Industry (TU) in Miskolc. He has got a Diploma in Management Studies at the Oxford Brookes University 1993. He earned his Dr. Tech. degree in 1977, his CSc in 1987 and his PhD in 1998. At the University of Miskolc he passed his habilitation in 2002, and became private-docent in 2003. He has obtained the Ágoston Trefort Award from Minister of Education in 2002, and the Signum Aureum Universitatis from the Rector of the University of Miskolc in 2003. He worked for the TU in Miskolc (1970-1987), and as innovation manager in the aluminium industry (1987-1992). He was the head of the Development Policy Department at the National Committee for Technological Development (1993-1999), and the deputy head of the R&D Strategy Department at the Ministry of Education (2000-2003). He has been working for the National Office for Research and Technology as the deputy head of the Strategy Department since 2004. He was the member of the National Statistical Council (1995-1999) and of the Committee of Higher Education Development Funds (FEFA, 1995-1999). He has been the member of the Committee of National Scientific Research Fund (OTKA) since 1999. He has been being the secretary of the Metallurgical Committee of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences since 1997, the member of the Doctoral Council of the University of Miskolc since 1999, the president of the Hungarian Association of Materials Science since 2002, and the secretary of the Scientific Council of the Association of Economic Scientific Societies since 2001. He is the member of the board of supervisors at the NOVOFER Foundation for Technical and Intellectual Creation. He has been the national delegate at OECD Committee for Science and Technology Policy since 1993. He is the member of the Planning Committee for formulating the National Development Plan and co- ordinates the R&D and innovation related works of the 2nd National Development Plan at the National Office for Research and Technology.
Péter Jarmik
He was born in Budapest, in 1952. He graduated as electrical engineer in 1974. He started his career at Hungarian Electrical Trust. After finishing the advanced industrial legal remedy training program, he worked for the Trust as an expert for industrial legal remedy and patent agent. He graduated as economist from the industrial faculty at Marx Károly University of Economic Sciences in 1984. He has been working for NOVOFER Innovation Joint Venture and its legal successor, Limited Company as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer respectively since 1986. NOVOFER operates as a profitable company since its establishment. The core business of the company is design and development of radio-communication systems, innovation, energetic development. Péter Jamrik is an “A” category radio-telecommunication leading designer, a member of Chamber of Engineers, president of TETRA Section at Hungarian Scientific Society for Telecommunications, member of Hungarian Association for the Protection for the Industrial Property and Copyright, member of Hungarian Scientific Society for Energy Economics, member of TETRA Forum Hungary Society, member of Board of Supervision at Hungarian Association for Innovation, president of Consultative Advisory for Public Security in the Balaton Region, he holds a leading post at Radio-communication Service of Hungarian Red Cross, and a member of Hungarian Water Rescue Committee. László Jermendy, Dr.
Graduated in 1967 from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at the TUB. He earned his Dr. Tech. in 1981, CSc in 1981, DSc in 1990, PhD in 1994, and Dr. habil in 1996. As Head of the High Voltage Laboratory of the VEIKI-VNL Electric Large Laboratory Ltd. his field of activity included high voltage measuring technique, transmission line insulation technique, and diagnosis, disturbing phenomena of corona, EMC, testing of electric equipment. He is member of the Hungarian National Committee of the International Conference on Large High Voltage Systems, representative in the Study Committee 36 (EMC) and 33 (Insulation Coordination) in CIGRE. He is professor of TUB and senior member of IEEE. He is author of 120 papers. Recently he has been directing a consulting company.
Ákos Jobbágy, Dr.
Graduated in 1975 from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at TUB. He received his CSc in 1994. In 1995 he joined the Department of Measurement and Instrument Engineering (at present called Measurement and Information Systems) where he is now an associate Professor and Head of the Biomedical Engineering Group. Since 1975 he was principal investigator of more than 20 different industrial and scientific research projects of the department. In 1994 he was a visiting research fellow at Delft University of Technology. His current research interests are biomedical instrumentation and market based motion analysis. He is a member of IEEE (USA), Hungarian member of IMEKO TC13, secretary of the Biomedical Engineering Section of SSMA. He received the Széchenyi Professor’s scholarship in 1997. He is the Director of the Educational Department of the TUB.

Endre Káldos, Dr.
Graduated in 1966 from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the Technical University of Budapest (TUB) followed by a further degree from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering in 1972 and the “Dr. Tech.” Post-graduate degree from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in 1974. Senior Lecturer at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Department of Manufacturing Technology, then Head of Department for the Development of Special Equipment in the Institute of Technology in Budapest. Played an active role in the Scientific Society of Mechanical Engineers (Hungary) in the areas of manufacturing technology and International Relations. At present he is a Reader in Manufacturing Engineering at Liverpool John Moores University. Substantial experience in university education, research/development and industrial technology transfer in the area of manufacturing engineering, including design of advanced tooling systems, CADCAM technologies, advanced machining, high-speed machining, manufacturing tribology, environmental friendly technologies, modelling and simulation of manufacturing processes and manufacturing systems, automation of assembly systems, process integration for universal machines, data generation and processing for bespoke product production, Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DFMA). Developed significant agreements for research cooperation with eight departments of six universities in Europe and development cooperation with industrial companies. He has over 110 refereed journal and conference publications and books, member of Editorial Board of International Journals and was awarded Society Medal (SSME-GTE, 1976), Industrial Award (Ministry of Industry, 1982), Publication Prize (SSME-GTE, 1983) and Automation Award (International Industrial Fair, Budapest, 1984) and Nominee for Silver Medal in Tribology (UK 2003). Tamás János Katona, Dr.
Titute of Energetics, Moscow, engineer-physicist in nuclear engineering; in 1983 CSc in nuclear engineering; 1991, doctor at Technical University Budapest; 2012 DSc of HASc, 2012, dr. habil. He is full professor at Pollack Mihály Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology and Scientific Advisor at MVM Nuclear Power Plant Paks Ltd. Main research area: design and safety of nuclear power plants, structural dynamics applied to nuclear safety, and ageing of structures and components. 1973-1983 he was working at Central Research Institute for Physics, Budapest, Hungary. Research area: reactor thermo-hydraulics and noise-diagnostics; preparing and performing start-up tests at the first in the country reactor of Paks NPP. Between 1983 and 1995 he was working in different leading positions in technical support area at Nuclear Power Plant Paks: leader of safety upgrading projects, e.g. site seismic re-evaluation and seismic upgrading, preparation of the long-term operation and power up-rating; leading participant in research and development programmes in nuclear safety, including participation in International Atomic Energy Agency research programmes. He is author of more than 200 papers. He is Professor of Honour Budapest Technical University; He is member of the Hungarian Academy of Engineering, Regional Committee of Academy of Sciences Hungary (vice-president), Hungarian Committee of European Association of Earthquake Engineers, Hungarian Nuclear Society, Committee for Energy of Hungarian Academy of Science; past-president of the Hungarian Nuclear Forum. He received the Gábor Dénes Prize in 2012.
Tamás Kemény, Dr.
Graduated in 1955 from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the TUB. He earned a post- graduate degree in 1961 as an Electrical Engineer. Between 1954 and 1958 he was an Assistant Professor at the Department of Measurement and Instrumentation at the TUB. During 1958-1993 he was a scientific research worker, later main Department Head at MIKI, Instrumentation Development Co. From 1993 he is the Executive Director of the Foundation for Industry. He is author of more than 100 publications in scientific journals, author of 8 books and editor of 18 proceedings. He has presented over 50 scientific lectures in 20 countries of the world. He is the Co-President of the Hungarian Scientific Society of Measurement, Automation and Informatics. He is member of the editorial board of the journal “Measurement”, and Secretary General of IMEKO, the International Measurement Confederation. He was a UNESCO guest-professor in Thailand and Ethiopia. He is the owner of 11 State and company research awards and received the award of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences in 1997 and the Gábor Dénes Award in 1999. He is Board Member of the Hungarian Association of Innovation.
Miklós Kenderessy, Dr.
Graduated in 1958 from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at the TUB. He earned his PhD in 1962 and his CSc in 1967. He is an associate professor at the Department of Microwave Telecommunication TUB. He was active for 38 years in the field of microwave technique at the Telecommunication Research Institute, where he developed microwave measuring instruments and managed the research work of microwave telecommunication equipment and he was the Technical Director of the Institute. He was two times guest scientist at the Munich Technical University. He was senior counsellor at the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Water Management, where he was dealing with frequency management problems. He is a member of the Hungarian National Committee of URSI and the Scientific Society of Measurement and Automation and the Hungarian Scientific Society for Telecommunication. He received the State Award, the Virág-Pollák Award, the Kruspér Award and the Gold medal of the Inventors Prize. He wrote many scientific papers and books and has 13 patents.
László Keviczky, Dr.
Graduated with an honorary award in 1968 from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at the TUB. He earned his PhD in 1970, his CSc in 1974 and his DSc in 1980. He is a member of HAS and foreign member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences. He is research professor of the Computer and Automation Research Institute of the HAS, professor at the BUTE and the Széchenyi University in Győr. He is the co-president of the Hungarian Scientific Society of Measurement, Automation and Informatics. He is a senior member of the IEEE. He is editor of several international journals. Between 1993-1999 he was the Secretary General, during 1999- 2005 the Vice President of the HAS. He got Gábor Dénes Prize in 2000 and Széchenyi State Prize in 2004.
Aladár Kimpián
Graduated in 1963 from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at the TUB. He is the Technical Deputy General Manager of the National Power Line Company Ltd. He was the leader of the establishment and the operation of the Hungarian 750/400 kV substation Albertirsa between 1975-1983. He is a member of the Presidium of the Hungarian Association of Electrical Engineering and he is also a member of the Hungarian National Committee of CIGRE. Graduated as physicist from the Faculty of Natural Sciences, Attila József University, Szeged, Hungary. He received PhD degree from the same institution. He is a professor at and head of the Department of Natural Sciences and Environmental Protection, College of Dunaújváros, as well as he is in charge of the environmental education of the college. He served for 7 years as the Director General of the College of Dunaújváros. His research field is ozone generation and decomposition of hazardous gases in flue and exhaust gases using fast electric pulse driven electrostatic precipitator. Rita Mária Kiss, Dr.
Graduated in structural engineering in 1991 at the Faculty of Civil Engineering at the Budapest University of Technology. Received CSc (PhD) degree in 1997, Dr. habil. degree in 2008, DSc in 2014. Between 1991-2013 she was lecturer and senior lectures, associate professor at the Dept. of Structural Engineering. From 2014 she is associate professor at the Dept of Mechatronics, Optics and Mechanical Engineering Informatics. Her research field is biomechanics, biomechatronics, analysis of human and animal motion. She received the Bolyai Scholarship in 1998, Széchenyi István Scholarship in 2001 and Öveges József Scholarship in 2006. She is author of more than 150 scientific papers.
Mihály Kisteleki
Graduated in 1962 from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the TUB. He earned his second degree in 1966 at the University of Architecture and Transport Engineering (specialist engineer for standard gauge Diesel and electric traction) and in 1976 at the TUB (economist engineer). At present he is the director of the Hungarian State Railways Ltd. Institute for Development and Experiments. Between 1990 and 1994 he was the head of Engineering department of the Hungarian State Railways Ltd. He is the starter editor-in-chief of the technical journal “Vasútgépészet” (Railway Engineering). At present he is lecturer of the TUB and the deputy secretary-general of the Hungarian Association for Transport.

Graduated in 1975 and 1976 from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at the TUB, Ph.D. in 1977. He earned CSc in 1989, D.Sc. and Dr.habil in 1998. He is Professor of the Department of Telecommunications and Media Informatics and at the same time Professor and Dean of the Faculty of Engineering Sciences of the Széchenyi István University in Győr. He was Deputy Director of the International Center for Engineering Programs at the TUB, 1992-2001. In 1993/94 he was a Professor and Chair at the Tokyo Institute of Technology, and has had various visiting professorships from 1990 till currently in China, Korea, Australia, Austria and Italy. He is the Immediate Past President of the International Fuzzy Systems Association, an Administrative Committee member of the IEEE Computational Intelligence Society, Life Honorary President of the Hungarian Fuzzy Association, a founding member of the EURO Working Group on Fuzzy Sets (EUROFUSE), and Advisory Board member of several international professional boards. He received two Best Paper Awards, the Széchenyi Professors’ Scholarship in 1997, he got the Denis Gábor Award in 2002 and the László Kozma Memorial Plaque in 2004.

He received his Diploma in Civil Engineering from the Technical University of Budapest in 1982. He obtained a degree in Engineering Mathematics in 1986 also from the TUB. He earned his CSc in 1986 and his DSc in 1995 at the HAS. He is a professor at the Department of Mechanics, Materials and Structures, TUB. He is the head of the Science and Engineering Division of OTKA (Hungarian Science Foundation), president of the Committee of Solid Mechanics of the HAS, member and secretary of the Hungarian Committee of the European Association of Earthquake Engineering and the International Association of Earthquake Engineering. He is a member of the editorial board of the International Journal of Reinforced Plastics and Composites and the Journal of Computational and Applied Mechanics. He received the Széchenyi Professor Fellowship in 1997. He became a corresponding member of HAS in 2001.
Jenő Kovács, Dr.
Graduated in 1954 at the University of Forestry in Sopron; PhD, CSc, he earned his DSc in 1994. He wrote more than 150 scientific articles and he is the author of 7 scientific research films. Honorary professor at the UFS. He is a member of the Presidency of National Forest Association, the President of the Forest Committee of the HAS of Miskolc, and a member of the Film Team of the Agricultural Engineering Committee. He was General Manager at the Mátra-Bükk Forestry and Wood Processing Company. He is a member of the Presidency of the Forestry Committee of the HAS and the between 1996 and 2002 he was Member of the Board of the Hungarian Academy of Engineering. He is the President of the Hungarian Biomass Society since 1997. He was conferred with title “Doctor Honoris Causa” at the University of West Hungary in 2001, and he got the Award “Magyar Köztársasági Érdemrend Tisztikereszt” in 2001.
Levente Kovács Adalbert , Dr.
Graduated as electrical engineer in 2000 from the Faculty of Automation and Computer Science at “Politehnica” University of Timisoara and biomedical engineer in 2011 at Budapest University of Technology and Economics. He earned his PhD at Budapest University of Technology and Economics in 2008 and habilitation at Obuda University in 2013 at Obuda University. He is full professor and rector of Obuda University. His fields of interest are modern control theory and physiological controls. He is founder and head of the Physiological Controls Research Center of Obuda University. He is IEEE senior member, IEEE Hungary Section chair, IEEE Hungary Section SMC Chapter chair and IEEE Hungary Section Control Systems Chapter chair. He is ERC grant holder, member of the IFAC TC 8.2 Biological and Medical Systems, and TC 9.4 “Control Education” technical committees and head of the Hungarian Artificial Pancreas Working Group of the Hungarian Diabetes Association.
Zsolt Kőhalmi, Dr.
Graduated in 1967 from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at the Technical University of Budapest. He earned his PhD in 1975 at TUB. He is the Managing Director of the Institute of International Technology and of the Theodore Puskás Foundation, the President of NETI IT Consulting Ltd. and the Chairman of the Board of Hungarocom Ltd. In 1978-82 he served as Science Attaché at the Hungarian Embassy in Washington, D.C. In 1989-90 he was Advisor to the Prime Minister, Special Envoy on COCOM affairs. In 1991-92 he was Under Secretary of the Ministry of International Economic Relations. He was Chairman of the Inter-Agency Committee on Technology Transfer and Export Control between 1990-96.
János Kövesi, Dr.
Graduated in 1976 from the Faculty of Chemical Engineering at the TUB. He earned a second degree in reliability engineering at the TUB in 1983, his Dr. Tech. in 1984. He earned his PhD in 1990, his Eur Ing in 1991 and his Doctor habil in 1998. He was the Dean of the Faculty of Economic and Social Sciences until 2004, and he is Full Professor and the Head of Department of Industrial Management and Business Economics at the TUB. Since 2004 he is Vice-President of BME, responsible for educational affairs. His research covers the areas of Technology Management, Total Quality Management and Reliability. He is the Secretary of the Hungarian Management Council, member of the National Committee of European Organization for Quality, of the Council of Engineers and the Scientific Society of Mechanical Engineers and of the Production and Operation Management Society, USA.
Éva Gilicze, Kövesné Dr.
Graduated in 1965 from the Faculty of Transportation Engineering at the TUB. She earned her second diploma in 1968 as an engineer-teacher. She earned her Dr. Tech. in 1969, her PhD in 1977, and her Dr. Habil. in 1994 and her DSc in 1997. Since 1965 she works at the Faculty of Transportation Engineering, now she is the Head of the Department of Transport Operation. Since 1993 she was the Vice-Dean of the Faculty. Now she is the Dean of the Faculty. She is author of more than 75 publications. She is member of the editorial board of the journal “Városi Közlekedés” and the Periodical Polytechnic Transportation. She is member of the Transportation Committee of the HAS. She received Balázs Mór Prize.

Graduated in 1973 from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the Technical University of Budapest. In 1978 he earned a second degree as welding engineer. He worked at petrochemical plant-investments in East-Hungary as welding and material testing supervisor. Graduated in 1958 from the Faculty of Sciences at the Eötvös Loránd University in Budapest. He earned his CSc in 1964 and his DSc in 1968. He is Secretary General of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, and a full member since 1990. Member of the Science Advisory Board of the Government, member of the Technical Development Committee, Vice President of the National Research Fund. He is titular professor of Eötvös Lóránd University and TUB. He is member of Academia Europaea, the European Academy of Sciences and Art, the Spanish Academy of Engineering and of the Research Advisory Board of the European Commission. Member of the Governing Council of the European Science Foundation. He has received the Golden Doctoral Ring of the Hungarian State President, the 1st Prize of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, the Peter Pázmány Prize and the Alexander von Humboldt Prize.
Sándor Kürti
Graduated in 1971 from the University of Veszprem on the faculty of Chemistry Process Automation. In 1975 he obtained diploma in system manager engineering, and received doctor’s degree from mathematical statistical analysis. After his graduation he worked for the Danubian Oil Refinery. His fields were: implementation of computer control system at gasoline mixing unit, design of the process control system of a catalic crack plant. Later on he joined the International Research Institute MNIIPU (Moscow, SU) where he dealt with mathematical simulation of blending systems. Working for Honeywell, (Bracknell, UK) he simulated process control system of a catalytic crack plant. In 1989 he founded KÜRT Computer Ltd. KÜRT developed a hard disk repair technology, a world-renowned data recovery technology, as well as IT security technology and methodology. He was awarded Kalmar Laszlo Award for the data recovery technology in 1995, Information Technology Manager of the Year in 1997, 1998, Gabor Denes Award for Innovation in 1998. He is vice president of IVSZ (Hungarian Association of IT Companies). He got the Szechenyi Award in 2004.
Lajos Laib, Dr.
Graduated in 1971 from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Agriculture in Gödöllö. He earned his PhD in 1977 and a degree as a special agricultural research engineer in 1978. He is an associate professor at the University of Agriculture. He received a commendatory diploma from the Minister of Industry 1975, an award from the Rector of the University of Agriculture in Gödöllö in 1984 and an award for excellent work in 1988. He is the President of the Section of the Agricultural Machinery of the SSME.
Tamás Lajos, Dr.
Graduated in 1968 from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the Technical University of Budapest. He earned his PhD in 1973, his CSc in 1977 and his DSc in 1988. He is Professor and Head of the Department of Fluid Mechanics at TUB. His research field is fluid machinery, aerodynamics, two phase flows, and dust separation. He has many scientific publications. He was working as a consultant for numerous industrial tasks. In 1985 he received the Gold Medal of the Inventors Prize. He was Vice President of European Distance Education Network, acting Vice President of the National Council of Distance Education, member of the Administrative Council of SEFI, President of the Hungarian TEMPUS Supervisory Board, and Director of the Institute for Distance Education at the BUTE. He got the Gruber Prize in 2001 and the Pázmány Péter Prize in 2002.
Péter Láng, Dr.
lty of Chemical Engineering of the Technical University of Budapest (BME). He earned his “Doctor Tech.” in 1980, his CSc in 1991, his DSc degree 2005, his Dr. habil in 2006. From 1975 to 1997 he was working at the Department of Chemical Unit Operations and since 1998 at the Department of Building Service and Process Engineering (formerly Department of Chemical and Food Engineering) of the BME. He became full professor in 2008 and since then he has been the head of the department. He delivered courses from subjects of Unit Operations and Environmental Protection also In English and French. Between 1991 and 2000 he was visiting professor for 32 months in all at the Faculty of Energetics of INSA Lyon and one month at ENSIC Nancy. He spent 3 times one month as visting professor at INP Toulouse between 2006 and 2009. Besides the above universities he kept research seminars at the Imperial College of London, University of Bradford and Technical University of Berlin, too. He is the member of the WP of Fluid Separations of the European Federation of Chemical Engineering. He directed 3 PhD works under common supervision with the above French universities, as well. He published 33 articles in the American and European international journals (including ones with the highest impact factor of his field). For these articles he has got near to 300 independent citations. Since 1995 he has been continuously directing OTKA projects. He directed or participated in more than 50 industrial R&D projects.
Antal Lázár
Graduated in 1966 at the Faculty of Architecture at the TUB, and in 1972 at Master School of the Chamber of Hungarian Architects. Between 1966-86 he worked as an architect designer at Iparterv. In 1986 he was the Director of MATERV. Since 1986 he is Professor at the TUB and since 1988 he is Head of the above Department. Between 1981-91 he was the Secretary General of the Chamber of Hungarian Architects. Prices and awards he received: Ybl Miklós Award, Reitter Ferenc Award, European Award for Industrial Architecture, Pro Architecture Award and Kossuth Award in 2005. He is the Dean of the Faculty of Architecture at the BUTE.
Gyula Lengyel, Dr.
Graduated in 1958 from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at the TUB. He attended classes at the Department of Applied Physics at the Eötvös Loránd University. He earned a second degree as a specialized engineer in power plant energetics in 1971. He was the General Director at the National Power Line Company Ltd. This company is responsible for the operation of the high voltage power grid in Hungary, and for the construction of transmission lines and substations. He was the Director General of the Hungarian Electricity Ltd and Chairman of the Board. He was elected again for the Chairman of the Board in July, 2002.

Gyöngyvér Biró, Lenkeyné Dr.
Graduated in 1982 from the Mechanical Engineering Faculty of the University of Miskolc. She obtained her second degree at Kossuth Lajos University of Debrecen as physicist-engineer on materials science. She earned the Dr. Tech degree in 1989 at the University of Miskolc, and CSc degree in 1995. She was working for the University of Miskolc at the Department of Mechanical Engineering between 1982 and 1997 as her main job finally as associate professor, since 1997 as part time teacher. Since 1997 she has been working for the Bay Z. Institute for Logistics and Production Systems. Since 1998 she is the head of the Department for Structural Integrity, and since 1999 also the deputy director for scientific affairs. Her field of research activity is fracture and strength of materials, practical use of fracture mechanics, structural integrity assessment of engineering structures. She is the secretary of the National Committee of ESIS since 1996, and of the National Committee of the ICF since 2000. She is the co-chairman of the ESIS TC5 Sub-committee on dynamic testing.
István Lepsényi, Dr.
His career runs parallel to the one-time and modern Hungarian vehicle production. After graduating from the Technical University of St. Petersburg, he joined Ikarus in 1974. First he was dealing with technological development, then with investment, and from 1986 to 1990 he was the technical director. In the period of the improving factory and strong Ikarus brand he managed the development of the robot and CAD/CAM technology and series production of the new city-bus family. And he was responsible for the go-to-market strategy concerning USA market. Suzuki project was in its preparatory phase when he was charged with the Ikarus representation, and then he had a primary role in the organization of Autokonszern coordinating Hungarian participation. He became the first CEO of Magyar Suzuki. When he continued his career at Knorr-Bremse in 1995 the Suzuki had been stabilizing its position in Hungary. He advanced the sales, research and development activity of the world’s leading manufacturer of braking systems for commercial vehicles in the East European region. Knorr-Bremse Fékrendszerek Ltd. is today a manufacturing base, research & development centre of strategic importance for the Knorr-Bremse Group, since 1996 it has been the marketing centre of the Group for Central and Eastern Europe. Among others he took part as a Vice President in the management of The International Organization of Motor Vehicle Manufacturers (OICA). Mr. Lepsényi has gained experience in the world-wide business area, and has a professional multinational background and intercultural skills. He received the highest honours for his activity was several times. Tivadar Lippényi, Dr.
Graduated in 1973 from the faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the TUB. He earned his PhD in 1986 and a second diploma on philosophy in 1984. He worked at the Central Research Institute for Physics from 1973 to 1984 on lasers and optomechanics. He took part on a scientific scholarship in Carleton University, Ottawa in the years 1981-1982. From 1984 to 1991 he was employed by Tungsram Co., where he worked on different positions on laser development and production. He was the managing director of Tungsram Laser Technology Ltd. from 1987 to 1991. Since 1992 he is dealing with consulting activities mainly in the field of innovation policy and innovative business development. He was the managing director of INNOSTART National Business and Innovation Center from 1995 to 1999 and INNOLT Ltd. from 1999 to 2002. Since 2002 he is chief advisor of the Prime Minister’s Office and head of the Innovation Department. He was the founder of HUNGOPTIKA, the Hungarian Chapter of SPIE – The International Society for Optical Engineering and he was the chairman of the board from 1989 to1993, and from 1997 to 1999. János Lukács, Dr.
Graduated in 1981 from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the Technical University of Heavy Industry (today University of Miskolc) in Miskolc. He earned a second degree in welding engineering at the TUHI in 1984, his Dr. Techn. in 1985, his CSc in 1994 and become PhD in 1997. He earned his Dr. habil. in 1999, he is Full Professor at the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Miskolc. He is Deputy Dean at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering. His research covers the areas of fracture mechanics, fatigue crack growth, structural integrity and reliability of hydrocarbon transporting pipelines. He is author or co-author of more than 200 publications. He is member of the Scientific Society of Mechanical Engineers and the Hungarian Section of ASM. He was elected as Secretary of the Committee of Materials Science and Technology of the HAS in 2002.
Gizella Marczis, Dr.
Graduated in 1971 from the Faculty of Metallurgical Engineering at the TU of Miskolc. She earned the Candidate of Technical Science in 1995. She earned her PhD in 1996. She worked for Ózd Metallurgical Works as the Chief Engineer and the Director of Bar and Wire-Rod Mill (1981-1991) and she was the Managing Director of the Small Section Mill “Workers” Co. Ltd. for more than 10 years. She was the Deputy President in the Directorship of Hungarian Steel Association and President of Heavy Industry Department at Chamber of Commerce and Industry for Borsod County. She is a member of the Metallurgical Working Party at the HAS. Her research covers the technological conditions of production of high strength rebars and production possibilities of special sections. Author or co-author of some book chapters, over 70 scientific papers and bears four patents. She received the Technical Scholarship of the Association for Overseas (Japan) and obtained her qualification at Corporate Management for Hungary (HUCM) in 2002. She has been awarded numerous prizes, including the State Honour (1985), the Technical Creative Prize (1989), the Gábor Dénes Prize (1992), the Medal for the Metallurgy (1994), For the Service of Economy (2001). Since 2002 she has been working as Executive Director of the Association for the Hungarian Steel Industry.
Lajos Márki-Zay
Graduated in 1966 from the Faculty of Natural Sciences of the University of Szeged in physics and mathematics, and in 1971 from the Faculty of Natural Sciences of the Eötvös Loránd University of Budapest in astronomy. Invited lecturer in astronomy at the University of Szeged for 4 years. He initiated the establishment of, and worked for 6 years with, the Gyula Observatory of the Research Institute for Solar Physics of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. He is Director of the Bay Zoltán school in Gyula (www.bay-gyula.hu), an institution offering modern technical education for secondary school leavers. Here he established the first electrosmog-free, healthy learning environment for computer studies and programming. This school is an official educational and training basis for ORACLE, SUN, CISCO, APPLE and ADOBE in Hungary. They have research cooperation agreements with universities, and businesses. He has initiated and has taken to accreditation a novel training course in “Renewable energy management” and will host the national training centre for it in the school he directs. Writes and lecturtes extensively about education theory and popular science. His speciality is “Education and the information society”. He is executive secretary of the “Bay Zoltán” Foundation for the support of gifted children (1992), and established the Bay Zoltán museum in Gyula.
Tibor Márton, Dr.
He took his master’s degree in 1957 at the Branch of Machine Building of the Department of Mechanical Engineering of the Budapest Technical University. In 1966 he took a post-graduate engineering degree in fabrication; in 1970 completed a post-graduate course on radiology. In 1972 he took his doctorate at the Miskolc University of Heavy Industry. In 1982 graduated as a welding engineer at the Halle Technical College and became the candidate for technical sciences. From 1957 to 1961 he worked as a mechanical process engineer at the Company for Small Motors and Machines; from 1961 to 1970 he was the chief engineer of the Training Department of the Ministry of Metallurgy and Machine Industry. From 1969 to 1987 he was the head of Department of Mechanical Process Engineering of the Budapest Polytechnic, then Bánki Donát Technical College. He was involved in scientific material research, metallography and material testing research, testing of changes in the properties of tool steels induced by heat-treatment, and primarily the fabrication of metals. His achievements are particularly outstanding in the testing of surface fatigue, particularly friction surface fatigue, and the development of roller bearing steel and process engineering of other ball spindle structures. Member of the Metallographic Board of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (1973-1976). From 1960 he was the member of the Scientific Association for Machine Industry (GTE); member of the Executive Board of Process Engineering Section of GTE, chairman of the Plastic Processing Section (from 1975), Secretary of the Central Training Committee of GTE (from 1981). László Meiszel, Dr.
Graduated in 1967 from the Faculty of Chemical Engineering of the Technical University of Budapest. He earned his PhD in 1972. Gyula Mester, Dr.
Graduated in 1970 from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Belgrade. Received his D. Sc. Degree in Engineering from the University of Novi Sad in 1977, (since 2005 PhD.). Between 1988 and 2004 he was full professor at the University of Novi Sad. He was a professor at the University of Szeged from 2005. Currently, he is a senior research fellow at the University of Szeged, Faculty of Engineering. Author of 216 research papers, author/contributor of 12 books, number of citations 379. His professional activities include R/D in different fields of robotics engineering: autonomous quadrotors, fuzzy logic sensor-based remote control, intelligent wheeled and humanoid robots, service robotics, personal robots. He is an invited reviewer of more scientific journals. His CV has been published in the Marquis “Who’s Who in the World 1997”.
István Mészáros, Dr.
He was born in 1963, Budapest, Hungary. He received his MSc degree in Electrical Engineering in 1985 and his PhD degree in 1997 from Budapest University of Technology and Economics. He was Scientific Research Fellow in the Applied Physical Research Institute of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences in the period of 1985-1991. From 1985 to 1992 he was Assistant Professor at the Material Science and Engineering Department of the Mechanical Engineering Faculty of the Budapest University of Technology and Economics becoming and Associate Professor in the same department in 1992. His main research field is the magnetic investigation of material properties. He is lecturing in the field of Materials Science, Material Testing, Magnetic Materials, Nondestructive Testing and Biocompatible Materials. He dealt with the Barkhausen measurement and remnant lifetime estimation of power plant materials. Currently, he is dealing with the application possibilities of magnetic measurements for material characterization. He has 101 publications and 131 citations in scientific papers and conference proceedings.
János Mészáros
Graduated in 1970 from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the TUB. He earned his second degree in 1981 as a specialized economist at the TUB, and his third one at the Foreign Trade College. He was a member of several planning teams realizing projects in the field of the agricultural machine production. His tasks were, among others, to introduce updated manufacturing technologies into industry, to organize the foreign trade of mass-produced and single-purpose machines in the field of agricultural and the wood working industry. He is now Head of a middle-size company, producing steel structures, mainly for export. He is member of the Disciplinary and Ethics Committee of HAE.
János Monigl, Dr.
Graduated in 1968 from the Faculty of Civil Engineering (MSc) at HfV Dresden. He earned a second MSc-degree of ec. eng. in 1974 at the Transport Faculty of the TUB, his dr. techn. in 1975, his CSc in 1976 (PhD), his Doctor habil at the TUB in 2001, where he is a “private professor”. He is a member of the Committee for Transport Sciences of the HAS and the European Transport Association. He received the Eötvöd Lóránd Award in 1989 and the Academy Award in 2000. As transport system planner he participated in different consultancy projects for municipalities, governmental bodies, banks etc. and he took part in more than fifteen EU research projects. He is managing director of TRANSMAN Consulting Ltd.

Graduated from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at the TUB and from the Faculty of International Business Administration at the Academy of Foreign Trade. He worked at the Institute for Industrial Economics for eight years, and another eight years in the international trade. Now he is a senior professional of Arthur D. Little, based in Hungary, as R+D and marketing expert in the engineering sector. As an independent consultant he has conducted assignments for Government on R+D Policy. He has written and co-authored numerous publications on subjects such as economics of R+D project, capital investments as well as licensing, Hungarian industry and foreign trade, etc.

Graduated from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the TUB. He earned a second degree as a welding engineer at the Technical University of Heavy Industry in Miskolc. He is the Chief Consultant for the Hungarian Office for Standardization and a freelance expert in welding and material testing. He is also a judicial expert. He is a member of the Central Standardization Section and a founding member of the Council of the Central Welding Section of the SSME. He was twice awarded the Medal of the SSME. He is a freelance expert of the Hungarian Accreditation Board. He received the Á. G. Pattantyús Prize.
Gábor Náray-Szabó, Dr.
Graduated in 1967 from the Faculty of Sciences at the Eötvös Loránd University. He earned his PhD in 1973 and his DSc in 1983. He is Professor at the Chemistry Department of the ELU. He is former President of the Hungarian Chemical Society, former President of the Federal Chamber of Technical and Scientific Societies, and Past President of the European Association of Chemical and Molecular Sciences. He is also full member of HAS and member of the Editorial Board of three international scientific journals. He was the Deputy State Secretary for International Affairs at the Ministry of Education.

Graduated in 1972 from the József Attila University at Szeged. He earned his PhD in 1975, his CSc in 1986 and his DSc in 1994. In 1972-1987 he was a scientific research worker, lecturer and senior lecturer. His major scientific interests are molecular biochemistry, biotechnology, enzymology, neurochemistry, and environmental biochemistry and policy. He has more than 93 publications. From 1987 he is the Head of Department of Biotechnology at the József Attila University. From 1993 he is the Director of Bay Zoltán Institute for Biotechnology. Graduated in 1964 from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the Technical University of Budapest. He earned his second degree as welding engineer in 1973, his PhD in 1978 and his CSc in 1988. He has also an economic degree as chartered accountant (1995) and Certified Information System Auditor (CISA) in 1996. He is managing director of Qualiso Consulting Ltd dealing with business consulting, performance and knowledge management and information systems consulting. He has been involved in several big program and project management engagements. He is also an expert for the Hungarian Industrial Standardization and on Information Systems Auditing. He is member of the Welding and Material Testing Sections of the SSME. He was recognized as an outstanding worker of the Oil and Gas Industrial Trust in 1979, and in 1983 the SSME awarded him for his technical publications. He is member of the Control Committee of HAE.
Lajos Nyiri, Dr.
Graduated in 1976 as electronic engineer at the Technical University of Budapest. So far he has been employed mostly by different public agencies. He has worked as national technology program coordinator, strategic planning officer, and advisor on international S&T policy and leader of a public agency for technology. The main areas of his professional interests are the correlation between the development of informatics and electronic industry, and the society, policy analyses of international trends in S&T relations between nations and companies. He played an active role in organizing and managing the international openness of the Hungarian S&T community. He is the Director of the ZINNIA Kft.
Imre Orbulov Norbert
Imre Norbert Orbulov graduated in 2006 from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at Budapest University of Technology and Economics. He earned his PhD summa cum laude in 2009 at the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at the same university. The theme of his dissertation was “Metal Matrix Syntactic Foams”. Since 2010 he is working at the same department as assistant professor. From the middle of 2012 he is the vice-dean for finance at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering. His main fields of research interest are the mechanical testing and microstructural characterisation of metal matrix composites, metallic foams and metal matrix syntactic foams. On the side of mechanical testing his research work is focused on the compressive properties, behaviour and failure mechanisms of metallic foams. On the microstructural side the main investigations are pointed on the interface layer between the components of the composites. From 2010 his research is supported by the János Bolyai Research Scholarship of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences and by a post-doctoral OTKA grant. He is member of the European Society of Composite Materials, the Hungarian Society of Materials Science and the Hungarian Association for Material Testing.

László Palkovics, Dr.
Graduated in 1989 from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the Technical University of Budapest, where he specialized in automotive engineering. He obtained his PhD in 1993 after completing the special postgraduate program of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. Since 1994, he has been working as the Head of the Department of Automobiles at TUB, and parallel to this, as a manager of electronic development of the Knorr-Bremse R&D Institute-Budapest. He has scientific interest in vehicle dynamics, vehicle control, non-linear systems, and chaotic vibration. He is member of the Scientific Council of the Hungarian Higher Education. He has quite a few scientific publications. He received Széchenyi Prize.

Géza Pap, Dr.
Graduated in 1966 from the Faculty of Chemical Engineering at the TUB. He earned his PhD in 1978 and title Eur.Ing. from FEANI in 1992. Between 1990-2001 he was the general manager of OLAJTERV Contracting and Engineering Co. Ltd., now the Chairman of the Board of OTF Contracting Plc. He received the Eötvös Loránd Prize in 1992, the Gábor Dénes Prize in 1996, the József Varga Prize and Segner Prize in 2001.
Gábor Péceli, Dr.
Graduated in 1974 from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at the TUB. He received his Candidate of Tech. Sciences and Doctor of Technical Sciences degree from the HAS in 1985 and 1989. In 1974 he joined the Department of Measurement and Instrument Engineering, where he is now the Head of Department. From 1975 to 1988 he was active in various industrial projects of the Department. He is co-author of two books in the field of signals and systems. His current research interests are associative digital signal processing in measurements, and design methodology of complex measurement and control systems. He is senior member of the IEEE, member of the Scientific Society for Measurement, Automation and Informatics of the Telecommunication Society and of the Association of Hungarian Engineers and Architects. Currently he serves as the Secretary of the IEEE Hungary Section. He is President of the Committee of Automation of the HAS. Since May 2007 he is Corresponding Member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences.
Antal Penninger, Dr.
Graduated in 1967 from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the Technical University of Budapest. He earned his PhD in 1978 and his CSc in 1988. His DSc in 1995 and his Dr. habil in 1994. He is Professor and Head of the Department of Energy Engineering at the BME. He was the Director of the International Education Center (1991-2001), and is presently the Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the BME. He is Member of Presedium of the Hungarian Professor?s World Committee, Member of the VDI and the Combustion Institute. He is member of Committee of Energetics (HAS) and President of the Committee of Heat and Fluid Mechanics (HAS). He is the President of the mechanical engineering section within the Hungarian Chamber of Engineers, and also President of the Hungarian Energy Association. He received as a co- author, a prize for the high quality of his university textbook on steam turbine. In 1989 he was awarded for his outstanding work. He is a member of the Nominating Committee of HAE. He got from the World Council of Hungarian Professors the Pro Universitate et Sciencia Award in 2002 and from the Hungarian Scientific Research Fund the Ipolyi Arnold prize in 2004.

András Pungor, Dr.
Graduated in 1978 from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at the TUB. He earned his PhD in 1996, and the same year he earned his Eur. Ing. from FEANI. His research area was the development of Scanning Force Microscope, and in 1990 he was invited to the University of Utah to continue this work. In 1996, he was appointed Co-Director at the Center for Neural Interfaces at the University of Utah where he directed research into the development of techniques and equipment for the detection of neural activity in the central nervous system. Since the spring of 2000, he has been Senior Engineer at Bionic Technologies, Inc. in Salt Lake City, where the technology invented at the University of Utah is further developed and converted into products for neuroscience researchers worldwide.
Miklós Rác
Graduated in 1990 from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at TUB, obtaining MSc in Process Planning, Branch of Heat Engines and got his second degree as Europe Engineer in 1994, then the third degree as MBA in 1997 at the Budapest University of Technology & Economics. Péter Richter, Dr.
Peter Richter (born in 1950) received his Diploma in Physics from the L. Eötvös University of Sciences in Budapest in l973. He received his M.S. in Physics at Florida State University in l975 and Ph.D. in Physics at L. Eötvös University, Budapest in l977. In l983 he was awarded the candidate of physical science and in l989 the doctor of technical science degrees of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. After four years of experience in optical industry he joined the Department of Atomic Physics of the Technical University in 1978 Budapest, where he is now professor and chairman of the department. His teaching activity includes lectures in quantum mechanics, solid state physics, optoelectronics and laser physics but he put major emphasis on the postgraduate studies of the department in different fields of technical physics. His field of research is applied physics, in particular optoelectronics, laser physics and their practical applications. He had a major role in developing the department a significant research and development center in this field. He organized and led several projects each year supported by government agencies or under contract from industry both in Hungary and worldwide. The main projects were in the fields of optical data storage, acousto optics, optical signal processing, laser remote sensing, new optical technologies, applied spectroscopy, environmental technologies. He has 15 patents. He is active in the Hungarian Physical and Optical Societies and has served on different boards of international symposia, workshops and professional journals. He is Corresponding Member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences.

Ernő Rubik, Prof.
Graduated in 1967 from the Faculty of Architecture at the Technical University of Budapest. Subsequently he earned a second degree in interior design at the Hungarian Academy of Crafts and Design where he was Associate Professor and Director of postgraduate studies up until 1986. He is an architect and designer, and best known for his Magic puzzle series, which is led by “The Cube”. However, from 1982 he has been active in experiments to revitalize the Hungarian economy. In order to move beyond the toy field and to join various kind of industrial activities, he opened the Rubik Studio in 1983, a business center involved in product design and development. Presently, he is working on joining international circles both in business and finance. In order to help both student and practitioner inventors and designers, he founded two Rubik Foundations. He is an Honorary Professor at the Hungarian Academy of Crafts and Design. In 1996 he was elected for the Honorary Doctor of the Technical University of Budapest. He received the Gold Medal of Labour; Order of Merit of the Hungarian People’s Republic in 1982, the State Prize in 1983 and the Kossuth Prize in 2007. His Cube was the Toy of the Year in the United Kingdom, in the Federal Republic of Germany, in Italy, Sweden, Finland, France and the USA. In 1995, he was awarded the Dénes Gábor Prize. He was the first elected, and in 1993 re-elected, President of the Hungarian Academy of Engineering and Curator of the Foundation of the Hungarian Academy of Engineering. Now he is the Honorary President of the HAE.
Imre Rudas J. , Dr.
Graduated from Bánki Donát Polytechnic, Budapest in Graduated from Bánki Donát Polytechnic, Budapest in 1971, received the Master Degree in Mathematics from the Eötvös Loránd University, Budapest, the Ph.D. in Robotics from the Hungarian Academy of Sciences in 1987, while the Doctor of Science degree in Fuzzy Control and Robotics from the Hungarian Academy of Sciences in 2004. He is active as a full university professor and Head of Department of Intelligent Engineering Systems. He serves as the Rector of Budapest Tech from August 1, 2003 for a period of four years. In 2007 he was reelected as Rector of Budapest Tech. He is a Fellow of IEEE, Administrative Committee member of IEEE Industrial Electronics Society, Chairman of the Hungarian Chapters of IEEE Computational Intelligence and IEEE Systems, Man and Cybernetics Societies. He is also a registered expert of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization and the EU. He is the President of the Hungarian Fuzzy Association and Steering Committee Member of the Hungarian Robotics Association and the John von Neumann Computer Society. He serves as an associate editor of IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics, member of editorial board of Journal of Advanced Computational Intelligence and Control Engineering Practice, member of various national and international scientific committees. He is the founder of the IEEE International Conference Series on Intelligent Engineering Systems and IEEE International Conference on Computational Cybernetics, and some regional symposia. He has served as General Chairman and Program Chairman of numerous scientific international conferences. His present areas of research activity are: Robotics with special emphasis on Robot Control, Soft Computing, Computed Aided Process Planning, Fuzzy Control and Fuzzy Sets. András Salgó, Dr.
Graduated in 1974 from the Faculty of Chemical Engineering at the TUB. He earned his PhD on 1987. He was Associated Professor at the Department of Biochemistry and Food technology at the TUB between 1983-1993. Since 1993 he is the Head of this Department. He was the Vice Dean of the Chemical Faculty of the TUB between 1993-1999. His research covers the areas of the chemical, biochemical analysis of foods and feeds using different techniques as chromatography, electrophoresis, analysers, macro- and micromethods for the activity measurement of enzymes; application of near infrared technologies. He is the member of the Hungarian Association of Biochemistry, the Hungarian Association of Food Science, Association of protein Chemistry of the HAS. Since 1996 he is the Chairman of the ISO TC 34 Committee, and since 1999 the Chairman of the ISO TC 34 – SC 4 Subcommittee. He is Executive Committee Member of International Association for Cereal Science and Technology since 1997.
Gyula Sallai, Dr.
Received MSc degree from the BME (Budapest University of Technology and Economics) in 1968, PhD and DSc degrees from the MTA ( Hungarian Academy of Sciences) in 1976 and 1989 resp., all in electrical engineering (telecommunications), Dr. Habil from the BME in 1997. He was leader researcher in telecommunication networks optimization and digitization planning, then research director, strategic executive director, later deputy CEO responsible for telecommunication services with the Hungarian Telecom Company; then he was international vice president, after that executive vice president for the ICT (information and communication technologies) regulation and scarce resource management with the Communication Authority of Hungary. Recently he is full-professor and the head of the Department of Telecommunications and Media Informatics, as well as the vice-rector for strategic affairs at the BME. He is also the chairman of the Telecommunications Committee of the MTA, and the president of the Hungarian Scientific Association for Infocommunications. Recently his main research area is the ICT strategic and regulatory issues. He is decorated with several medals, inter alia the Order of the Republic in 2005.
László Scultéty, Dr.
Graduated in 1950 from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at the Technical University of Budapest. He earned his CSc in 1974, and his DSc in 1995. He is member of Electronic Devices and Technologies Board at the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. He worked in MIKI, Research Institute for Industrial Instruments as a deputy director for Research and Development. His main research interests are on one hand the analysis and synthesis problems of linear active networks, including the feedback electronic circuits and active RC filters, and on the other hand the development of electronic test and measuring instruments. His research activities include feedback electronic circuits, sensitivity optimisation, direct synthesis of active RC and multifeed back active RC filters, zero group delay networks. He introduced new analysis methods for investigation of feedback electronic circuits. He got Virág-Pollák award for these results. He developed and realized more than 100 electronic instrument, including the method of measurement. These are low level DC amplifiers, signal generators and modulation meters for communication, automatic test systems, core-loss measurement of electrical steel, DNA synthetisers for biotechnology, etc. The other field of his activity was to introduce a new group of test and measuring system for the research of pharmacology. These are the action and resting potential measurements, CLAMP systems, stimulation without polarisation, biological force meters, blood pressure measurement of animals etc. He is author of 4 books, 31 scientific publications, 13 patents and held 35 conference presentations in different countries. He got twice the Gold medal of the Invertors Prize. He is member of Scientific Society for Measurement, Automation and Informatics. He organised several conferences of electronic instrumentation and got Krusper award for this activity. At present he is scientific advisor at Experimental Medicine Research Institute. In 2003 June he became honorary professor at the Budapest University of Technology and Economics.
Endre Schuchtár, Dr.
Graduated in 1975 as a mechanical engineer from the Faculty of Transport Engineering at the Technical University of Budapest (TUB). He earned his “doctor univ.” degree in engineering from the TUB in 1980 and his Doctor of Science candidate from the Hungarian Academy of Science (1990). After University he joined the Csepel Metal Works, then in 1983 he started working for Hungarian Aluminium Company – Hungalu Ltd. He started as Research Fellow, became Senior Research Fellow, then Chief of Mechanical Laboratory and at Hungalu Director of Material Testing and Quality Laboratory. In 1976-77 he studied in Paris (degree in Engineering at the Institut Superieur Matéraux et de la Construction Mécanique). In 1984 and 1986 he was a guest professor at the University of Waterloo, in Ontario, Canada. In the last 20 years he has been working in technical teaching as an author of 110 scientific papers and as a visiting fellow of material science and technical harmonisation at the TUB. He also took part in the elaboration of material testing standards at the Hungarian Standardisation Office, especially in the field of fracture mechanics. Between 1991-1996 he worked as a chief expert in the field of technical harmonisation with the EC directives, the EN standard, the EU’s certification and quality system at the Mission of Hungary to the EU in Brussels. After his return to Hungary (1996-2003), he worked for the EU and Phare Department at the Ministry of Economic Affairs dealing with harmonisation of the EU’s technical regulation, and implementation of the European Conformity Assessment Agreement. He was deputy Director General of the department and the Hungarian member of the EU PRAQ III program, Senior Officials Group on Standardisation and Conformity Assessment Policy as well as member of Hungarian National Committee at the European Organisation for Quality. He started his second mandate as industrial counsellor at the Mission of Hungary to the EU in 2003. He has been working in the EU Council Technical Harmonisation working groups, he is responsible for following the regulation of many industrial sectors and representing Hungarian interests. Actually he takes an active part in the discussions on the legislation of Chemicals (REACH), Machinery, Medical Device (amending Directives 90/385/EEC, 93/42/EEC and 98/8/EC).

Graduated in 1967 from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the TUB. He earned a second degree in nuclear power engineering at the TUB in 1978 and finished a two-year training course at the Industrial Manager Training Institute in 1988. He was Head of Department at the Hungarian Power Companies Ltd (MVM Rt.) between 1987- 2001. He has been elected by the employees to be a member of the Supervisory Committee of MVM Rt. btw. 1982-1998. Since the Hungarian Power System Operator Company (MAVIR Rt.) was found (2001) he is Deputy Director of Market Operation at MAVIR Rt. He is a member of the Network Access and Congestion Management Task Force of the Association of the European Transmission Operators (ETSO).
Péter Soltay, Dr.
Graduated in 1984 from the Faculty of General Medicine at the Semmelweis Medical University. He received a masters degree of electrical engineering from the TUB. He is working in the National Institute of Traumatology since 1984. He earned his specialist degree in surgery in 1989, and in trauma surgery in 1992. Besides working as a physician he also takes part in education of medical students, postgraduate education and scientific research. According to his special scientific interest, he accomplished several biomechanical experiments in co-operation with the TUB, studying the mechanical loading capacity of different methods of internal fixation. He is willing to continue his scientific activity in this area and get a scientific degree. He is member of the Scientific Society for Measurement and Automation since 1995.
László Somlyódi, Dr.
Graduated in 1967 from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the TUB. He earned his DSc in 1985. He is professor and head of the Department of Sanitary and Environmental Engineering, TUB. He is a member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (chairman of its Engineering department), European Environmental Science Foundation, European Academy of Sciences and Arts, International Water Academy, a number of Hungarian and international high level advisory boards, and journal editorial boards. Registered at many UN organizations. Founding father and president of the Hungarian Wastewater Association. He received Gábor Dénes Prize in 1999, Pázmány Péter Prize and Széchenyi Prize in 2002. He is the President of the World Federation of Water Associations.

Gábor Stépán, Dr.
Graduated in 1978 from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at BME. He earned his PhD degree in 1982, DSc degree in 1994, Dr. habil in 1995. He was elected to a corresponding member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences in 2001, he is the vice-chairman of its Section of Engineering Sciences since 2005. From 1980 to 1981 he was working at the Machine Tool Factory of Csepel Industries as mechanical engineer, then he was researcher at the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. From 1988 to 1990, he was researcher at University of Newcastle upon Tyne working on a robotic force control project for turbine blade polishing at NEI Parsons. He worked as visiting researcher at the Technical University of Denmark and at Delft University of Technology during the years of 1991-93. In 1994-95, he spent one year at California Institute of Technology in Pasadena as a Fulbright Visiting Professor working on nonlinear dynamics of wheels, machine tool vibrations, robotic force control, human balancing. Since 1995, he has been Professor and Head of Department of Applied Mechanics at BME. He is member of editorial boards of Transactions of the Royal Society A (UK), Journal of Nonlinear Science (USA), Meccanica (I), Journal of Vibration and Control (USA). He has had 23 students, 10 received degree till 2005, from those George Haller is full professor at MIT in Mechanical Engineering. Gábor Stépán is a specialist in the field of the dynamics of time-delayed systems. His book Retarded Dynamical Systems (Longman, 1989) and the subsequent papers are basic references in mechanical engineering, applied mathematics, mechanics, control theory, also in biomathematics and biomechanics.

Péter Szabadits, Dr.
Graduated in 2001 from the Faculty of General Practis of the University of Medecine in Budapest. He earned his second degree in 2002 at the Faculty of Electric Engeneering of the Technical University of Budapest. He earned his third degree in 2006 at the Department of the General Practis. 2007 he continued his professional studies as a candidate for a PhD degree at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the Technical University of Budapest. His research area is the coronary stent system. He has several publications in the multidisciplinary field of technical and medical sciences. He is member of the Hungarian Medical Chamber and the Hungarian Society for Experimental and Clinical Pharmacology.
Ödön Szabadits, Dr.

Antal Szabó, Dr.
Graduated in 1965 from the University for Oil & Gas in Moscow. He earned his second degree in 1972 at the TUB and his DSc in 1975. He is editor, writer and translator of many technical books. He has more than 70 publications in the field of technical sciences, quality and industrial policy. For 25 years he has been working as an engineer manager, civil servant, associate professor and UN expert, from 1990 at the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism, and from 1994 as General Director of International Integration Department. He is one of the initiators of the Hungarian quality awareness program. He is member of the Hungarian Measurement and Automation Association, of the Eötvös Loránd Physical Society and of the UN Association of Hungary. Now he works as Regional Adviser on Entrepreneurship and SMEs United Nations, Economic Commission for Europe, in Geneva, Switzerland.

Sándor Szalai, Dr.
Graduated in 1962 from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at the TUB. He obtained his second degree on process control engineering in 1970 at TUB. He earned his CSc in 1977 and his DSc in 1992. He is the Head of the Department of Space Technology at the RIPNP. He was a visiting researcher at the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research, at ESTEC, and at the Max-Planck-Institut für Aeronomie. He received the Bronze Medal for Excellent Investors Prize. He was awarded the State Prize of the People’s Republic of Hungary in 1986. He is a member of the Board of Scientist of the RIPNP and of the HAS. He is also a member of the Hungarian Society of Astronautics (HAS) and the SSMTA. He got the Nagy Erno Medallion from the HSA in 2003 and decoration of the European Space Agency in 2004. He was elected as a correspondent member of the International Academy of Astronautics in 1999, and as a full member in 2004. He is the author of 75 publications and 6 patents.

László Szeidl, Dr.
Graduated in 1971 from the Faculty of Natural Sciences of the Eötvös Loránd University in Budapest. He earned his PhD and CSc in 1979 and his DSc in 1995. He is Professor and Director of Institute of Mathematics and Informatics at University of Pécs Faculty of Sciences, and Senior Researcher at TUB. He received the Széchenyi Professors Scholarship in 2000. His research field is Probability Theory, Statistics and Stochastic Modeling. He is a member of the Bolyai János Mathematical Society, the János Neumann Computer Science Society and also member of some Expert Committees of Hungarian Academy of Sciences.
Zsuzsa Szentgyörgyi, Dr.
Graduated in 1958 in electrical engineering, and received university doctor’s degree from the TUB. She has worked for some years in industry, designing automatic control systems. Later she joined the Research Institute for Computing and Automation of the HAS (SZTAKI) as research worker. In 1985 she was invited to join the Ministry of Industry, where her responsibility was, as director-general, co-operation between the R+D sphere and the industry. In this job she headed a large five-years S+T program. Since 1991, she had been a freelance writer and editor in science and technology. She had been for 12 years the deputy secretary-general and later for 8 years the co-president of the Hungarian Scientific Society for Measurement and Automation (MATE). She is member of the IEEE, the author of more than 600 popular scientific papers, and editor or co-author of nine books. She has received three S+T awards and two for popularisation science. She has been for 12 years the editor of the Magyar Tudomány (Hungarian Science), and she was an adviser of the President of HAS.
Róbert Szepesházi, Dr.
He earned his MSc Diploma in civil engneering in 1976, and his Postgraduate Diploma in geotechnical engineering in 1981, and got his University Doctoral Degree in 1992, all of them from Technical University, Budapest with summa cum laude. He is lecturer since 1977 at the Geotechnical Department of University István Széchenyi, Győr. As department chair and vice director of Institut for Building and Environmental Engineering he organised several study programs and research projects since 1990. He is author about 110 papers and 10 textbooks. As Head of the Committee for Special Foundations at the Hungarian Standards Institut he directs the implementation of the new European technical standards. He is Board Member of Geotechnical Section of Hungarian Chamber of Engineers. He was Secretary of the National Committee of International Society for Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineerig until 2006. He works as acknowledged geotechnical designer and expertise on large projects such as construction of Highway M7, Danube bridge at Dunaújváros, Railway Contact Hungary-Slovenia, Paks Nuclear Power Plant, Budapest Underground line M4, foundation of big silos and supporting of deep excavations. He received Zielinski Award from the Hungarian Chamber of Engineers in 2006.

Graduated in 1978 from the University of Agriculture in Keszthely as agricultural product engineer specialising in pest control and in 1983 he obtained his second degree as agricultural engineer. In 1987 he graduated from the faculty of Environmental Studies at the University of Agriculture in Gödöllő. He was head of the Biological Laboratory Somogy Pest Control and Agrochemical Station for 7 years and in 1988 he joined the Department of Technology and Engineering of Somogy County Council where he worked as environmental and nature reserve chief engineer of Somogy county. Between 1990 – 1994 he was deputy mayor of Kaposvár City of County Rank and since December 12 1994 he has been mayor of Kaposvár. Between 1998 – 2002 he was member of the Hungarian Parliament and for 2 years he also worked as Member of the Advisory Board to the Prime Minister of Hungary on municipal issues. Between 2000-2002 he served as president of the Association of Cities of County Rank, since 2002 he has been co- president. In 1999 he was voted “Mayor of the Year”, in 2000 he was awarded the “Károly Kós Award” in 2001 the Certificate of Merit of the Minister of Economy. For his achievements he was given a certificate of distinction by the village of Táska (2001) and was granted the honorary citizenship of Edde village. (2002) In 2002 he was elected honorary citizen of the University of Kaposvár.
György Szokol, Dr.
Graduated in 1964 from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the TUB. He earned his second degree as a specialised welding engineer in 1970 and his PhD in 1973. He is Director General of the ESAB Hungary Ltd, where he was awarded by his outstanding work. From this position he retired in 2005. He is a lecturer on welding technology and materials testing at the Institute of Postgraduate Studies of Engineering at the TUB. He also participates in the work of several sections of the Scientific Society of Mechanical Engineers and member of the Technological Committee of the Hungarian Academy of Science. After 1996, he was a member of the Nominating Committee of the HAE, and now is Chairman of this Committee and also member of the Board.

András Szőllősi-Nagy, Dr.
Szöllösi-Nagy holds a Dipl. Ing. in Civil Engineering, a Dr. Techn. (Summa cum Laude) in Hydrology and Mathematical Statistics from the Budapest University of Technology (BME), Hungary, and a Ph.D. in hydrology from the same university. He earned the Doctor of Science (D.Sc.) degree in system science from the Hungarian Academy of Sciences in 1991. In the same year, he habilitated, Dr. Habil., at BME. He started his carrier at the Water Resources Research Center (VITUKI), Budapest, Hungary, where later he held the position of Deputy Director General (director for research)). In the early ’70s he was research scholar at the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA) in Laxenburg, Austria. Later he worked with IBM Italy. In the early ’80s he taught computer aided hydrological forecasting at the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), Bangkok, Thailand. During that period he worked as a UN consultant on hydrological forecasting in Bangladesh, Thailand and Indonesia. He was Visiting Professor at the University of Luleå, Sweden and a regular visiting research professor at the Systems Department of the University of Waterloo, Waterloo, Canada. His main research interest covered stochastic hydrology and real-time recursive flow forecasting state space algorithms using combined hydrodynamic and statistical models. Szöllösi-Nagy joined UNESCO in Paris in 1989 as Director of the Division of Water Sciences and Secretary of the International Hydrological Programme (IHP). He held those positions for 20 years. He also served as Coordinator of UNESCO’s environmental programmes and Deputy Assistant Director General of UNESCO’s Natural and Exact Sciences Sector. In 2009 he was nominated Professor of Stochastic Hydrology both at UNESCO-IHE and TU Delft, The Netherlands. Between 2009 and 2014 he served as Rector of the UNESCO-IHE Institute for Water Education, Delft, The Netherlands. Between 2009 and 2014 he was visiting professor at the Beijing Normal University in Beijing, China. He was a member, and earlier Chairman, of the predecessor of UN-Water. He had an active role in the creation of the World Water Council (WWC). He launched the International Journal of Water Policy. Served as member of the Boards of the Stockholm Water Week, the Stockholm Environmental Institute (SEI), Sweden, the Delta Allience and the Prince Sultan Bin Abdulaziz International Water Prize, respectively. János Takács, Dr.
Graduated in 1972 from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the TUB. He earned his CSc. at the HAS in 1982, habilitation in 1996. He is Full Professor and Head of the Department of Vehicle Manufacturing and Repairing at the Faculty of Transportation at the BUTE. He received the Pattantyús Á. Award of the SSME in 1993, Eötvös Award in 1998, 50. Anniversary Medal of FTSS in 1999, Gold Medal of SSME in 2000. He is Secretary of the High-Energy Density Machining Subcommittee of HAS. He has over 180 publications, mainly in foreign languages. He is member of editorial board of “Gépgyártás” and member of scientific advisory board of “Periodica Polytechnica – Transportation Engineering”. He received the Széchenyi Professor’ Scholarship in 1997-2001. Since February 2000 he is re-elected President of the SSME. Since November 1996 he is the Secretary General of the HAE.
Pál Tamás, Dr.
Graduated with honors in 1972 from the Faculty of Automation and Computer Science at the Kiev Technology Institute (that time USSR) and earned his M.A. degree in Economics at the Karl Marx University of Budapest and his PhD in sociology at the Hungarian Academy of Sciences in 1977 and in 1982. He was employed as a researcher at the Hungarian Academy of Sciences and holds different visiting research and teaching positions in the USA, Russia, UK, Canada, Germany, and Austria. 1988-91 research director of the Hungarian National Institute for Public Opinion Research, 1991-98 Director of the Institute for Social Conflict Research, from 1998 Director of Institute for Sociology. President-Elect of the Hungarian Sociological Society and Vice-President of the Hungarian UNESCO Commission. Now he is Director of the Research Institute for Sociology of the HAS.
Pál Tardy, Dr.
Graduated in 1964 at the Miskolc University, Department of Metallurgy. He performed post doctoral research work at Imperial College, London, in 1973-74, and has held different posts at the Research Institute for Steel Industry. In 1990-93 he was scientific director and since 1994, he is technical director at Association of Hungarian Steel Industry. He worked for UNIDO in Africa and New York. In 1975, he earned his PhD degree, and in 1990, his DSc degree. His work includes more than 150 publications and conference papers. He is Past President of the Hungarian Mining and Metallurgical Society. Vice-president and head of the EU Committee of the FTSS, member of the State Office for Technical Development (OMFB). He received professorship at Miskolc University and is member of the Board of the European Steel Institutes Confederation. He is member of the Hungarian Accreditation Board.
Pál Tétényi, Dr.
Graduated in 1954 from the Faculty of Chemistry at the State University of Moscow. He earned his CSc in 1957 and his DSc in 1966. He is a science-adviser and member of the Research Council of the Institute of Isotopes at the HAS. He is a titular Professor of the Attila József University in Szeged, a foreign member of the Swedish Royal Academy of Engineering, and member of New York Academy of Sciences. He is full member of the HAS. He received an Award from the HAS in 1967, the State Award in 1983 and the “For Budapest” Award in 2001.
János Tomka, Dr.
Graduated in 1976 from the Technical University of Budapest as an electrical engineer and teacher. He received his CMC title in 1997. He spent several years at the International Training and Information Center for Information Technology (SZÁMOK/SZÁMALK), at a software development company in Hungary and in Germany before joining KPMG in Budapest in 1993 to lead the IT Consulting Department. In 1998 he became a partner and between 2000 and September 2004 acted as the Chief Operating Officer of KPMG in Hungary. He was the co-chairman and the managing director of KPMG Academy Ltd. between 2001 and 2014. Currently he is a college Professor and Head of the Department of Ecomomics at the Károli Gáspár University of the Reformed Church in Hungary. His current research interests are knowledge management, organizational development and organizational ethics. Additionally he is a member of the Association of Christian Professional and Business People. László Tóth, Dr.
Graduated in 1969 from the Mechanical Engineering Faculty of the University of Miskolc. He earned the Dr. Tech degree in 1974 at the University of Miskolc, and DSc degree in 1995. He was working for the University of Miskolc at the Department of Mechanical Technology between 1972 and 1996 as his main job finally as Professor, since 1996 as part time teacher. Since 1996 he has been working for the Bay Z. Institute for Logistics and Production Systems, from 1996 to 1998 as Head of the Department for Structural Integrity, from 1998 to 1999 as Deputy Director for Scientific Affairs, and since 1999 as Director of the Institute. His field of research activity is fracture and strength of materials, practical use of fracture mechanics, micro-structural aspects of the fracture processes and structural integrity assessment of engineering structures. He has been founder and member of the organising committee of the National Colloquium on Fracture Mechanics since 1981, founding member of the International Society for Technology, Law and Insurance since 1993, member of the International Editorial Board of the journal of Physico- Chemical Mechanics of Materials since 1993 and member of the International Editorial Board of International Journal for Technology, Law and Insurance since 1993. In 2005 his activity was acknowledged by Gábor Dénes Award.
Tamás Tóth, Dr.
Dr. Tamás Tóth has an M.Sc. in metallurgical engineering and an M.B.A. in factory management. He has a doctorate in science awarded by the Technical University of Heavy Industry, Miskolc, Hungary and another, awarded by the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. He has been in industrial metallographic engineer at the Csepel Iron and Metal Works for approximately three years. At present he is college professor. He teaches science and engineering of materials, heat treatment and surface engineering, material testing, and conducts research and development in the same fields. He has directed more than 150 R and D projects in mechanical and metallurgical industries. He has written 6 college textbooks and 138 scientific studies.
Péter Trampus, Dr.
Graduated in 1972 from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the TUB. He obtained his second degree as a specialized engineer on plastic deformation at the same faculty in 1979. He earned his CSc on materials science in 1985 at the TU of Dresden. He worked for the Paks Nuclear Power Plant in various positions until 1996. He was responsible for structural integrity related issues of the primary circuit components. Between 1992 and 1995 he was Head of the Advisory Board to the General Director. From 1996 to 2003, he worked for the International Atomic Energy Agency, a member of the United Nations family, Vienna. He headed projects on managerial and engineering aspects of nuclear power programme development, implementation and performance improvement. In 2002 his activity was honoured by Distinguished Service Award, the highest IAEA award. In 2003 and 2004 he was a visiting scientist at the Institute for Energy, Petten, one of the seven institutes of the European Commission’s Joint Research Center. He was dealing with nuclear safety issues in Central and Eastern European countries. In 2003, he established his own consultant company, and works as principal consultant.
Antal Tungler, Dr.
Graduated from the Faculty of Chemical Engineering at the Technical University of Budapest. He earned his MSc in 1967, his PhD in 1972 and his DSc in 1995. He is Professor at the Department of Chemical Technology since 1995, and Head of Department since 1996. He is member of the Catalysis Club of the HAS, Vice Dean of the Chemical Engineering Faculty, responsible for scientific and international affairs. He is the Hungarian representative of the COST Chemistry D24 MC. He got the Innovation Prize of the HAS and the Prize of the Hungarian Patent Office as well in 2002.
Géza Újhelyi

György Vajda, Dr.
Graduated in 1949 from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the TUB. He earned his CSc in 1957, PhD in 1961, and DSc in 1964. He was elected to CMA of HAS in 1976, and as a member of HAS in 1982. He is a titular Professor of TUB, the President of the EAES and President emeritus of the Department of Technical Sciences of HAS, and of the IAEA, Honorary President of the HEA. He is Chairman of the Energy Commission of HAS, and Chairman of the Advisory Board of HAEC and HAEA. He was Chairman of the National Commission of WEC, and CIGRE. He is senior member of IEEE, member of the Sigma Xi Society, member of the New York Academy of Sciences. He got the Zipernovszky Award in 1960, State Prize in 1975, Electrotechnical Grand Prize in 1982, Szilárd Leó Prize in 1999, the Széchenyi Award in 2000 and the Pro-Renovanda Cultura Hungariae Prize in 2002.
Antal Vavrik
Graduated in 1972 at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in Moscow, which was accepted by the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at Technical University of Budapest. He also obtained a higher degree certificate of Foreign Trade Techniques. He started his career in the caloric laboratory of the Refrigerator Factory in Jászberény, then he was dealing with foreign trade of energetic machines and equipment at Transelektro for 4 years. Since 1980 he is working with ERBE Power Engineering and Consulting Ltd, where he was the head of Paks NPP commercial department, then chief engineer. Since 1992 he is the managing director of ERBE Power Engineering and Consulting Ltd. He had further professional education at engineering and management in USA, Germany and Japan. He is a member of many professional organizations, among which he is a member of the chairmanship of the Association for Energetic Equipment Manufacturers and COGEN Hungary.
József Váncza, Dr.
József Váncza is Head of the Research Laboratory of Engineering and Management Intelligence at the Institute for Computer Science and Control of Hungarian Academy of Sciences, as well as Scientific Adviser of the Fraunhofer Project Center for Production and Management Informatics. He received his PhD in Mechanical Engineering; his current interest includes computational intelligence and advanced planning in production engineering, such as process planning, production planning as well as coordinated planning in supply networks. Dr. Váncza has been lecturing in the above topics for two decades at the Budapest University of Technology and Economics where he is Associate Professor at the Department of Manufacturing Science and Technology. He is on the editorial boards of five international journals, serving the European Journal of Industrial Engineering as associate editor. Dr. Váncza is Fellow of the International Academy for Production Engineering (CIRP). For his research and educational activities he was awarded the Knight Cross of the Order of Merit of the Hungarian Republic. He published 180 scientific papers that received 1200+ independent citations. He acted as principal investigator and leader in production planning, process planning, robotics and production network management projects based on collaboration of industry and academy.
Zoltán Vámos
Graduated in 1987 from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at the TUB. He is working for GE Hungary Rt. where he has hold several positions from development engineer to general manager. He currently fulfils the position of Vice-President, Europe Technology. As a Vice President he takes it as a personal goals to make the European Technology organization the leading facilitator of innovation. He is a member of the Technical University’s Social Senate.
Péter Várkonyi László

Annamária Kóczy R. , Várkonyiné Dr.
Graduated as electrical engineer (1981) and as a mechanical engineer-teacher (1983) from the TUB. She earned her PhD in informatics in 1996. Since 1991 she is with the Department of Measurement and Information Systems of the BUTE, currently as an associate professor. She is contributor in about 20 academic and industrial research projects, mostly on the fields of digital signal processing and intelligent systems. Her research interests include digital signal- and image processing, modeling and diagnostics, and soft computing, anytime, and hybrid techniques in intelligent systems. Author/contributor of 11 books, 26 journal papers, and more then 100 conference papers. She is the vice chair of the Hungarian Fuzzy Association, senior member of the IEEE, member of the European Association for Signal Processing EURASIP, of the John von Neumann Computer Society, and of the Measurement and Automation Society.
Péter Várlaki, Dr.
Graduated in Mechanical Engineering in 1971 at the Faculty of Transportation Engineering at the Technical University of Budapest now (BUTE). He earned his PhD in 1975, his CSc in 1979, and his DSc in 1988. He received his Dr. habil degree in 1995. He is a Professor at the Budapest University of Technology and Economics (BUTE) from 1990. He was the editor of the “Periodica Politechnica Transportation Engineering” journal. He also participated in the work of the editorial board of the “Journal of Problems of Control and Information Theory”. He was a member of the System Engineering Committee of the IFAC and of the Community Network for Technology Transfer. He received the Prize of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences in 1987. He was a staff member of the Department of Telecommunication and Telematics at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Informatics and of the Department of Automobiles at the Faculty of Transportation of the Budapest University of Technology and Economics. He is a founding member of the Hungarian Academy of Engineering. The main topics of his research field are the stochastic control theory, statistical system identification and computational intelligency, especially, with applications in vehicle system dynamics. Now, he works as a Professor at the Department of Chassis and Lightweight Structures at BUTE. At the same time he is a Professor at the Department of Mathematics of the Széchenyi István University in Győr. He is author or co- author of 10 books and more then 250 other scientific and technical publications.
István Varga, Dr.
Received the Msc in traffic engineering and the PhD from Budapest University of Technology and Economics (BUTE), Hungary, in 1997 and 2006, respectively. He is associate professor with the Department of Control for Transportation and Vehicle Systems. He also holds a Senior Research Fellow (part-time) position with the Institute for Computer Science and Control, Hungarian Academy of Sciences. He is currently the Dean of the Faculty of Transportation Engineering and Vehicle Engineering of BME. His main research interests include road traffic modeling and control.
Gábor Vértesy

Balázs Verő, Dr.
Graduated in 1967 from the Metallurgical Department of the Technical University of Heavy Industry in Miskolc. He earned his PhD in 1982 and his DSc in 1994. At the beginning of 1990 the Hungarian Academy of Sciences suggested he should submit his doctoral thesis. He was a technical consultant for the Development Enterprise for Ferrous Metallurgy until 1993. He is the Secretary of the Mechanical-Metallurgical Committee of the HAS and editor-in-chief of the “BKL Kohászat”, a mining and metallurgical journal. He is a member of the Hungarian National Mining and Metallurgical Association and of ASM-Hungary. In 1993 he became the head researcher of the “Bay Zoltán” Research Institute for Material Science. Since 1999 he is scientific director in the same institute. Between 1996 and 2002 he was the President of the Control Committee of the HAE.
András Weichinger
He took a degree in engineering at the Technical University of Budapest, graduating in 1956. He worked for several years as a construction engineer for an institute for design. From 1959 to 1963 he was a chief engineer and examiner in the Hungarian Patent Office. He passed the examination for patent attorneys with honour in 1963 and received his licence. On the invitation of the head of Danubia Patent Attorneys he joined Danubia in 1963 and he has been working here since that time as a patent attorney. Since 2003 he has been a European patent attorney. For several years he was a leader of the engineering and electricity department and from 1989 to 1995 the deputy managing director of Danubia. He is a member of the Hungarian Association for the Protection of Industrial Property and Copyright, the AIPPI, the Union, the FICPI and the LESI, where he is the official international delegate for Hungary. He has held a number of lectures about Hungarian industrial property in the Korean Republic, which were also published in book form. He speaks English and German.
András Winkler, Dr.
Graduated in 1965 from the University of Forestry and Wood Sciences. He earned his PhD at the BISON Research Center in Hannover and his DSc at the University of Hamburg. He is a Full Professor and Head of the Department of Wood Composites at the Faculty of Wood Sciences. The Foundation of Sopron Technology Centre and Innovation Office is also linked with his name. He was elected to the IUFRO Executive Board as Representative of Eastern Europe in 1990. He is a member of the Forestry Committee of HAS, the Fibber Technology Committee of HAS, serves on the editorial board of the “Holzforschung und Holzverwertung” journal, and is associated with the “Wilhelm Leopold Pfeil” Foundation Curatorium. He was President of the Directorial Board (Board of Rectors-Directors) of Technical Higher Education Institutions in 1995-96. He was conferred with title “Doctor Honoris Causa” at the University of Agriculture in Vienna in 1995. He got the Széchenyi Award in 2000.
László Wojnárovics

Tamás Zettner, Dr.
Graduated from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the Technical University of Budapest and participated at several postgraduate courses. He started with his professional activity in the power energy industry as power station chief engineer (Heat Power Station Pécs), scientific director (Research Institute of Electric Energy Industry). He has been working at the Hungarian Power Company Ltd. for 13 years as production director, and since 1982 until retirement as deputy technical general director. As deputy technical general director he directed the operation starting processes of the blocks of the Nuclear Power Station in Paks. In appreciation of his activities he received a State-Prize in 1988, and in the same year he has been appointed to professor of the TUB. He has been elected to President of the Scientific Society for Energy Management and served in this position during three rounds until November 2001. At this time he was elected as Honorary President of the Society. From 1994 until 2002 he was Vice President of the Federation of the Technical and Scientific Societies (MTESZ) and he has been elected to President of the Federation in June 2002. He was the President of the Federation until 2004. He was member and later on director of the UNIPEDE Heat Power-Station Educational Committee. He is member of the HAS Energetic Committee. In appreciation of his activity he received the Engineers for Peace and Progress Award, the MTESZ Award and the Eötvös Loránd Prize, the Segner János András, Szikla Géza and Szabó Imre Prizes of the Scientific Society for Energy Management.
