The Hungarian Materials Industry Technology Platform aims to establish a high-value-added materials industry and materials security in Hungary. By creating the HMITP, the Hungarian Academy of Engineering (HAE) seeks to enhance its role in the industrialization processes in Hungary, supporting the national industrial strategy with a professional technological knowledge base represented by qualified individuals. The HMITP serves as a model for the HAE’s platformization, potentially transforming the HAE into a self-organizing engineering ecosystem that can fill the organizational vacuum in Hungarian industry created by the dissolution of the National Technical Development Committee (OMFB).
Mission: To develop the Hungarian materials industry.
Vision: By 2030, allocate significant investments into the Hungarian materials sector to strengthen our material sovereignty and achieve high added value in material industrial production, particularly in strategically important areas.
Value: Embracing, developing, and connecting professional materials industry competence. The HMITP acts as a strategic tool to assist Hungary in having a competitive and sustainable (circular) materials sector. It is a division of the Hungarian Academy of Engineering (HAE) and aims to be a supporting institution for the Hungarian Government in the long term. The HMITP is a vertical professional organization, a communication space, and a virtual institute. It collaborates with horizontally structured advocacy organizations such as the Hungarian Innovation Association, the Hungarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the Hungarian Chamber of Engineers, as well as the committees of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences that represent foundational science in materials science and technology.
