Based on suggestions and comments from its members, the Presidency decided to establish a Lifetime Achievement Award on April 11, 2001. The name of the award is the Techné Medal.
The honoree receives a medal created by the sculptor András Lapis* and a ceremonial certificate. One side of the medal features the 9 Muses, and the other side bears the inscription of the Hungarian Academy of Engineering, along with the name of the honoree and the year of awarding.
